It is crazy that in the 21st century people traffickers can operate with such ease at the EU outer borders and place people in death trap dinghies along that coastline. If the French pulled their finger out or even Frontex they could swamp that section of coastline and disrupt their operations before they make to sea.
They have managed to increase security further at Calais exit points last year ( one of the reasons people smugglers switched to boats), there should be a concerted effort when the weather breaks to stop these vile gangs on the sea route and prevent people attempting to enter the country illegally.

With views such as this the NSC chattering luvvies will have you run out of town.

So in a nutshell, it's all the EU's fault. It's funny how leaving the EU was about taking back control, controlling our borders and accountability of our own government, yet instead of holding to account the government elected on a clear mandate to take back control and control borders, here you are still blaming the EU?

Lets elect them out

I guess if you spend a couple of hundred years harping on about how your country is the best in the world, the land of milk and honey, you can’t be that surprised when some poor people turn up to check it out.

When you say 'check it out' do you mean contribute to the success and not necessarily take what is on offer?

Good point well made, going by the general consensus in the Bear Pit the country is on its knees and is broken, when do you think this news will filter through?

When the Labour Party inevitably get elected to government in 2024 will you accept criticism from anti government types after 7 weeks in power that they should have sorted the mess left behind by the previous lot already?

Which bit of Frontex AND France did you not understand.
Smuggling gangs operating at the French coastline on French territory, putting people in deathtrap dinghies are not just the responsibility of the French authorities, (it is criminal activity) it is also the responsibility of Frontex, the EU agency, who also have responsibility for border control of the European Schengen Area. BOTH should be working and co-ordinating together to stop these gangs operating.

I mean you can’t be surprised that some poor people want to rock up here and see what’s on offer. Whether that be employment or benefits. There are undoubtedly economic migrants, it’s be foolish to deny it.

town full of eejits
politicians and bureaucrats have hoisted themselves into a position of immense wealth in a lot of cases , their nets are cast well and truly into the stream of public money/funds and millions probably billions syphoned off here and there to chums , acquaintances and extended family .......this current influx of Syrians is brought about by civil aggression by a Russian backed army , Refugees from Iraq , Afghanistan and Vietnam were a result of Russian and American aggression on foreign soil , Libyan , Sudanese and Somalian refugees are the result of aggression from foreign backed militia in those countries , China , America , Russia and to a lesser extent Britain and North Korea have been supplying weapons and financial backing to destabilise foreign lands for the last 70 years ...some would argue longer. These refugees are not a direct result of European aggression but as i'm sure you'll agree they would get short answers from the countries mentioned above in asking for shelter or aid. In short Europe has been shat on and has allowed itself to be shat on by the "superpowers" it has now gone beyond a joke and is no longer sustainable , i don't have an answer to it , is there even an answer to be had , some people welcome refugees some don't ......it's the way life is. The joke is the amount of money that has gone missing this year with the refugee crisis and covid as cover the political and financial elite are pissing themselves all the way to the bank.

But from their perspective now we don't want to be joined with them, people leaving the border and coming here - the problem goes away, why should they give shit anymore?

The Problem with being a 3rd country and saying control your borders is you only control 1 side of the border. Another example of ceding control rather than taking it back.

Don't let me stop you blaming everyone else except the people who said they would control the problem if elected, but it does make your point about democratic accountability rather hollow

Well, some pay up front, some spend the rest of their life in slavery, some give their daughters as security (they’ll very likely never see them again), some make their own way. It never works out particularly well and it’s rarely as binary as you like to think.

And the luvvies advocate this whole thing, from the tambourine rattlers singing Kum bah yah in Dover to the virtue signalling celebs to the Members of Parliament demanding a free for all.
They all have blood on their hands every time there is a tragedy in the Channel.
