Not really, but hopefully it'll open one or two people's eyes. I certainly didn't realise how bad it was over there. It's sad really, the select few control most things in this world - even if hundreds of millions of people around the world marched against this, not a single thing would change. There's not really much the average person can do to stop this.

The 'select few' eh?! Just WHO could you be referring too?!!!

In unrelated news a section on the BBC news was showing Egypt tightening up its borders as Palistine is a base that Rebels are striking in to the Sinai from and the POJ having rearmed and redug there combat tunnels targeting Israel

Once again if they had chosen to live in peace with their neighbours or even acknowledged that they have a right to exist. Or even if they took one of the two state solutions that had been offered....

was it related to the piece the BBC did yesterday on the news.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-31637592

worrying the combat tunnels have been restocked with missiles ready to strike again. These missiles/mortar bombs must have cost a bloody fortune.

Why does that only apply to one side?

You are either misinformed, incapable of rational thought, or racist to glibly state such an offensive opinion.
Or maybe all three, sadly the case with many Americans.

And of course the odd rocket justifies genocide, the bombing of UN schools and the use of illegal weapons.

Like all things Middle East it is not that simple to just point the finger solely at Israel it does not tell the whole story, it is far more complicated than that. Internally the majority Sunni population of the Gaza are ruled by Hamas who happen to be Shia and determined to wipe out Israel whilst hiding behind the human shield of Sunnis, yet another example of the oncoming civil war between Sunni and Shia.

Throughout the muslim world there are incidents of ethnic cleansing and the hatred between these faction of the same religion and it will come to a head one day on a global scale - a repeat of the split in the christian church and the European conflicts that went on for years after and there is nothing we non-muslim can do to stop this we will just get dragged into the conflict.

Eem, so in a nutshell, The UN in 1947 after consultations and a vote gave a mandate for two countries. Palestine and Israel.

The Jewish people accepted the UN decision, the Palestinians did not.

A few months after Israel was up and running as a sovereign country, the Palestinians along with help from their neighbours Syria, Egypt and Jordan attacked the newly created state of Israel and attempted to totally overrun it and destroy it. The Israelis won the war and as a result of such hostility towards its very survival, took the decision to keep some of the land on its borders, i.e. Gaza and west bank previously owned by Syria and Jordan as a security measure.

So if you engage in a violent act to try to destroy a country and you lose and you end up losing some of your own land as a result, why would you expect sympathy.

That was was nearly 50 years ago and I could accept what you say, to an extent. However, ever since then, Israel has been illegally grabbing land on the West Bank and has turned Gaza into an open prison. It's totally unjustifiable.

Exactly, that's just what everyone in England would have done if half of our country was given away.

I think it's difficult to pass judgement on what Israel should have done. We don't know what it's like to be surrounded by countries that would like to wipe us of the face of the planet. A day in their shoes. Had Israel have done everything they were supposed to do, I doubt they'd still be there.

Could you just be specific about why you disagree with his comment?

Exactly, that's just what everyone in England would have done if half of our country was given away.
Who had half their country given away?

Spot on. I am currently in Haifa Israel. Jews, Christians, Arabs, Bahai people all out in the spring sunshine enjoying life. If only the nutters in Gaza could enjoy life, without reverting to terror & destruction, then Egypt, the western world & Israel would reopen the borders. In the meantime you have to protect your own security.

You're an ignorant racist hiding behind the desire to label others as such. Americans - oh so predictable targets....Are you North Korean?
