???:facepalm::wrong:

We need a quality striker for sure (as we've been saying for the last 4 or 5 summers), but it is not our money, it is Uncle Tony's.

Completely agree but if he doesn't want to spend it (and I wouldn't blame him, he can happily recoup everything he has put into the club, he's earnt that right) then don't say we are aiming to be a top 10 club. If you have that ambition then HE needs to spend, especially considering the incoming transfer fees and wages that have been received this summer

I'm not down on whomever is left behind, I'd like it to be Andone, but I can make a better case for it being Connolly.

But yes Mr Bloom can't (and never has done in the past) talk the talk without walking the walk.

Someone has to come in so at least one has to go.

It is what it is really. Welbeck is never going to play anywhere near 38 games in a season, if you can get 20-25 games from him it is good and all that can be expected.

There's Maupay, Connolly, Welbeck, Zeqiri, Andone, Tau, Locadia in the squad as well as Trossard who has played quite a few games as striker. While some of these can play in multiple positions, you cant just keep adding more and more players because it ****s up dressing room atmosphere as well as training sessions.

None of those listed are good enough strikers, some not even strikers. Hence why the club are actively pursuing a new striker. FFS.

Andone to step in and shine, no worries

He needs time and, even if he does get back to his best, he may just about be good enough as backup

Andone looks like he is constantly involved in an argument with himself and anyone that comes near is dragged into it too.
I've been looking forward to him returning but there was some worrying signs today but hopefully he will settle down once he gets a goal or two.

Tau and Connolly did ok though today - suspect we may start at Burnley with at least one of them alongside Maupay or Andone (who looked today like he could start an argument in an empty room).

I know everyone wants us to sign a new striker but I just have a gut feeling we'll go with what we've got, and that includes at the back as it does sound like Cuccurella may well be heading elsewhere.

We are actively pursuing a new striker. Of course, we may fail again. But we are definitely not going with what we’ve got

I have to admit, Connolly impressed me today against Luton with a touch Bergkamp would've been applauding. Massive long played over the top, Connolly was chasing it with a player on his shoulder, threw himself into the air, stretched out his leg and took it down beautifully.

Maybe because I've seen so much of the likes of McCammon and Virgo playing upfront for us, it just seemed top, top class seeing that sort of skill level upfront for us. Definitely has the potential, just needs more game time and confidence I believe.

Connolly played well today, but he was playing against Luton. Every Prem defender will be better than what he faced today.

Yet some on here think we don't need to sign another striker. If we don't get our money out and sign a decent striker we'll be scrapping around the bottom 3 again. We've tried and failed to sign strikers on the cheap since we arrived in the PL, with another season of TV rights and £50m from the White deal there should be no excuses

Yes but lets not forget Luton finished 12th in the Championship last season, and a ball played over the top like that would be hard to control at any level. Let's give him some credit aye?

No problem.

A few nsc’ers think he’s shite anyway.

Who? I have never seen anyone say that. Just that he is too injured

I think you'll find that many of us feel it is dull to keep saying the same thing. Say it a couple of times. Club does or doesn't sign a striker. Dullards drone on and on, eventually pointing the finger at The Club (#clueless). Then every time a striker gets injured, or we don't score, out comes the same old mantra. This has been going on for years. If you think our club is run by morons, look into elsewhere. I gather there is a top outfit up the road, the Sellhurst Park outfit, as talkshite probably call them.

You have a right to say it, certainly, and Croydon is perpetually in waiting for you if you finally snap but, FFS I also have a right to say it is dull and irritating to point fingers at others who will obviously disagree as your opening gambit.

Personally I would like to see another striker brought in, but I'm not that fussed to be honest. Yet some on here . . . :bla::bla::bla:

Why are you not fussed? Are you actually a supporter? Do you want another season of relegation struggle? I suggest you follow your own advice

Uncle Tony has a real problem with the cost of strikers going back to his comments on Billy Sharp. I cannot say that i disagree, but we certainly need one. Our current crop of bargain basement offerings are not going to get us up the table.

You replace with better players and improve, or you stay still and struggle scoring goals again

Spot on

Or the players improve.

On what basis do you think they will improve? None of them did last season, did they?

Yes an injury is never good but where welbeck is concerned it's maybe good to get it out the way early.
Plenty of other strikers keen to impress and all capable of playing alongside eachother.
Then welbeck gives us a boost for the second part of the season.
What's interesting with our strikers is the options they all give potter in various formations and they are probably happy to rotate depending on tactics required to win the match.
As you say a new expensive striker coming in may not be as flexible in different systems and also get the hump if he isn't playing everygame and may be disruptive.
