3 EPL fixture missed. This would be the least I’d have thought he’d miss so I’m actually a little relieved that a date has been put on his return.

Bearing in mind this is Danny Welbeck we are talking about, l'm quite releived too, after all we knew he wasn't going to be fit enough to play in anything like the full programme of fixtures, so if it does end up being just the three Premier Leage games he misses at this stage, then l'd sya that isn't too bad.

That does put the onus on Maupay and Connolly to come up with the goods though. Oh if only we could sign another striker!

Outside change (like Maupay) for Saturday now. Great news.

Bad news on Burn though - back to the knee specialist for him.

Who scored 1 goal last season.

Not sure he’d be the same present day caliber as Welbeck who scored 6. But he would a cheap option that’s for sure.

Isn't he a bit of a dickhead, or has he grown up a bit?

Personally think Carrol is well past it at premier league level. Probably top to mid championship level at best now. Has been generally poor since re-joining Newcastle in 2019 and won't be getting any better with age.

Can't see any position he would improve in our best eleven (or even the squad in general)

Because Carroll is nearly 33, and his ankles are made of Weetabix. Not sure I could put up with that man-bun either.

Allardyce said his injuries are because of not being willing to go the extra mile in training and rather go for a drink at the pub instead. No great indications that any of that have changed.
