I own land in Cornwall, near Penzance. On the land at the highest point there is a large standing stone circle surrounding several buriel chambers or Cairns. Dating back to the Bronze Age. We let the Alternative Earth group up there as they respect the place and I like it to be used. One trip there I was meeting an archaeologist to go over some things and he pointed out all the other monuments you can see from that point. Aligned. From the circle you can see both coastlines as it is so near Lands End. You can also see a tin mining tower with a window in it. The archaeologist pointed to it and asked me what I can see in the window. I squinted and stared and sure enough someone was standing in the window. I literally jumped out of my skin. The Archaeologist said if you get close to the chimney tower it disappears. In fact our stone circle is pretty much the only place you can see the figure from. The Archaeologist just smirked and said was probably trick of the light and got on with the task in hand but it freaked me out. He and a mate may of course be tricking me so I shall have toi check next time I am up there alone.

Nestling in green nowhere
Messing about with Ouija boards as kid taught me and my pals not to mess with things you don't understand. We got heavily into it and picked up a whole host of nasty entities which took YEARS to shake off. I'm not even sure that they're all gone yet and I'm in my forties. We were all plagued by the stink of rotting meat, had dark shadowy forms visit our homes and were woken at night by heavy old man breathing in our rooms. My girlfriend was so freaked out by the events that she refused to stay over with me and my friends from that time all became extremely upset by the "visits"

I can't stress to any curious youngsters that you cannot control what you find there, you can't trust it and you should lave it well alone.

I hate to point this out, but the common denominator on the majority of these weird stories seems to be you, Nibble

That is actually really scary. How did you rid yourself of them? I know I shouldn't be reading this so close to bed but cannot help myself!

Nibble and I are clearly spooky dudes. Some people are more open to this sort of stuff than others. I'm a non believer in Mediums as conduits for spirits. They don't NEED a medium if they want to acknowledge them. If you look between the gaps you will find them right there.

I know another guy who has had some really dark moments in his life, way more than me. He is quite regularly going to bed and finding himself waking up in different locations. It happens to him about twice a year. Only ever happened to me once funnily enough a couple of days after I met the guy.

When I was about 20, sober, I put myself to bed. I was living in Dorking at the time. I awoke at about 3 in the morning at the base of Box hill behind my house. A man carrying what looked like a box stood about 30 feet away from me. He took a few paces toward me. Stopped and ran off to the right into the treeline. I went home and woke my Mother up but she thought I was making it up. I never got to the bottom of that. Totally unexplained.

Anyone else had weird/unexplained things happen to them?

I think that one killed any hope of something more exciting. I have some, but they involve the realisation that it wasn't Beechams Powders I had taken earlier.

I have to agree that whenever i've been close to spirits, i've never needed any help

Yep strange things happen when you do the Ouija board, but my theory is that it makes you hyper sensitive and it puts your brain into a trance like state to the point where it’s like self induced group hypnotism. It really sticks to your subconscious thoughts and you can haunt yourself.
Ouija board and being a teenager is a great combination for these things.

Lying here in my pit having read through this thread I wonder which of you I will blame tomorrow if I find myself pinned to the bed or anything tries to eat my face. I venture it might be a desperately hungry demon to try that. Should I sleep with the light on I wonder ????

Lights on and a fish paste sandwich and a glass of lime pop for the Sucubus, you'll be good as gold

I thought that just growing up and ignoring them would work...it didn't. When I was in my late twenties I was sharing a house with a bunch of agency Nurses and Midwives. We got pissed in the local pub one night and I was full of Bravado and started telling my new frieds about it all. "Ooh, show us how it works" was the response.

We got back, set a session up which ended with one girl...a very level headed Theatre Sister in hysterics, disembodied banging on all the doors in the house and, what sounded like, a million rats scratching about in the attic in the middle of the night. (the attic was totally clean and newly renovated when I peeked into it at 4 am) and the phone repeatedly ringing with no caller on the end of the line. We all sat in the kitchen together all night shitting ourselves.

Theory is that these spirits attach themselves to those most susceptible and can instil in their host the desires they had in life, alcoholism, drug abuse and immorality are often reported.

Eventually they go as you work out what they want and deny it to them but it does tend to take its toll. There's much anger and darkness in their realm.

Bed won't help, when the sleep paralysis kicks in, you feel a presence in the room, and you cannot scream or shout for help as you try and fight the vortex sucking you in.

Don’t worry, although scary it’s, it’s your mind playing tricks when you wake up when your body is fast asleep.

That sent chills up my spine. Really. I went through a period of having night terrors, bad feelings in my home, images of dark lakes and chattering as I went to sleep, really quite terrifying things. I almost went mad with it after a year, drinking to get drunk most nights so I didn't have nightmares etc. Was a dark time. Passed it now thank goodness. Of, course I may just be bonkers?

Sleep sound! Yes, I think I'm gonna watch HIGNFY and QI. Clear my head for beddy-bo-byes. Tara. Interesting thread. Will pick up again. In daylight.
