Correctamundo. I'd say taken from about No.100, looking south-ish.
I grew up (alright, grew older) in that street - lived there for 23 years - and remember it well as a great place to play out (especially with loads of kids living in Vere Road at the time) bearing in mind there were hardly any cars there during the day. In about the mid-80s some people started parking their cars at an angle, and this continued right down the street. Wankers.
I remember the pub on one corner of Shaftesbury Road and Ditchling Rise (The Railway - still there), and the Bric-a-Brac shop on the other corner.
There was also an antique shop on the corner of Shaftesbury Road and Clyde Road, a corner shop, and next door to the corner shop (and two doors from me) a fish & chip shop. There was also a plumbing supplies shop there as well.
For 17 years it was a part of my local geography and now, 26 years after it was demolished I have trouble remembering what that part of town looked like.
