There are only two (or three, at a push) places where it is suitable for a football shirt to be worn.

1) When playing football yourself
2) At an Albion MATCH
3) On holiday *debateable - it's not for me, personally, but others will disagree.

First 2 points totally understand, but on holiday, good grief, nothing more embarrassing than a family of Brits walking down foreign streets in football shirts.

I can think of plenty of things more embarrassing on holiday (watching people unable to cope with their alcohol, for example) but I do agree that I wouldn't pack a football shirt on holiday myself. The average Brit is not known for his dress sense, lets be honest.

If everyone wore the shirt it would look amazing. I always feel like a bit of a tit in a football shirt though, unless I am playing football. But if everyone wore one to the game I probably would.

I met a guy last year on holiday in Tenerife. He had moved over there with his missus to set up a business and I was with my family on holiday. He was sitting in a bar wearing his Norwich shirt and so we got talking and became quite good friends. We're going out there again this summer and hope to meet up with him again in that bar! So sometimes wearing your colours can be good.

I was sitting in a bar on Zante a few years back and there was a group of lads wearing Arsenal tops watching a game quite civilly, along came a group wearing Man U tops. I think you can guess the rest.

Wearing colours can also be bad.

I've never liked seeing grown men (especially fat blokes, like me) in football shirts unless they are playing but I couldn't help myself on Saturday. Now proud owner of new Albion shirt and will be wearing it to every match, starting with Spurs, then Gills etc. Bought a big enough one that fits over my other gear so I can slip it on and off at the ground.

Completely agree. If all three "home" sides of the Amex were a sea of blue & white stripes it would be brilliant. Maybe we should make it compulsory...

Absolutely - I've struck up a conversation with many a football fan bumped into on holiday, it's great. I've even bumped into Palace fans abroad and had a bit of friendly 'banter'.

No, what did happen next? Did they all sit down and have a beer and maybe exchange bit of banter?

This kind of post always baffles me. I haven't seen any violence at all at any football in the last ten years. Yes, some banter - yes, even some abuse at some matches, but there hasn't been one single game (Albion home or away, or any other match) or even in a bar/on holiday where anything more than that has happened.

As I said above, I've even bumped into Palace fans and there's been nothing other than a friendly chat. It isn't the 1970s anymore.

there does seem to be a faction who post on here who are very much of the opinion the football violence is still very much with us, and are convinced some sort of hell is about to be unleashed at Falmer I'm with you though, not seen any for many many years, and I've been to one or two games. In fact, I truly cannot remember any at all since the early 80s, and then I just walled on the opposite direction and avoided it completely.

No, they did not all have a drink together. These things do happen, i'd never seen it before and hope never to see it again, mainly due to the fact i'm getting old and fat and can't run as fast as i used to.

I was sitting on concourse at airport in Vegas a couple of weeks ago waiting for a delayed plane - young fella walks by in an Albion shirt so I haul him in - he's on way to Toronto and then back to London - bloody good chat, passed time and gave me a bit of a sentimental feeling .... recognisable around the world
