[Seagulls Downunder]

Some of you may have already seen via other sources that we won Event of the Year at the Football Fans Downunder awards.
Following the awards we had an enormous amount of praise from media and other supporters groups, explaining in my awards speach about the REMF and how we
we are now holding this match here and hoping to raise funds ourselves.

I was told that we won it by a mile, for this I must thank all of you that took the time to vote for us. On a personal note, I was nominated as supporter of the year and much to my surprise
made the top 3 shortlist, this is note a voting catergory but decided by a panel of judges. I may not have won it but I'm honoured to have even been in with a shout.

Thanks Tony, I think the next REMF match here is going to be huge. Congratulations should also go to SDU member Joe Gorman who won Blogger of the Year http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/24/guardian-australia-football-writers-ffdu-awards
The club do know about it Ron, we had their backing through the whole process including a letter from Tony Bloom for the portfolio we put together for our supporters club of the year nomination. This time we didn't make the top 3 shortlist but we'll try again next year.
