We Want Falmer! has been out nearly a month now.

We've been getting some amazing feedback and there are a couple of cracking reviews on Amazon.

What do the great and the good of NSC think of the book?

Would appreciate some honest critiques...

Fair point, but the authors - correctly so - wanted the book to be positive.

Got 'We Want Falmer' for Xmas, just finished it and its another must read for all Albion fans. The account of the battle with LDC and De Veggie in particular brought back some very dark memories

Honestly, bolt it onto Build a Bonfire and you think how the f*** did we EVER get from the last Goldstone game against Donny to the first game at the Amex. Huge thanks to everybody involved particularly the Falmer for All team. Without them we'd be dead and buried.

I'm guessing most of us up til now didn't want to post anything in case it was a 'spoiler' for anybody who hadn't yet read their Xmas pressie book. However as it now seems to be a green light for honest critiques, will post one. Tomorrow.

Is the book of interest to non-Albion fans?

Probably not as much as 'Build A Bonfire'.

'Build A Bonfire' told the story of the enemy within, and set a kind of template for a resistance and protest movement against your football club. It was more generic, and hence everybody's cautionary tale.

'We Want Falmer' is more a story about taking on local and national government and campaigning on specific technical and planning issues. The opposition came from without, but it's principally our tale.

Would be interested to see it reviewed in places like WSC or via the FSF fansite.

Not as much as Build a Bonfire, I think. I'm a Shrewsbury fan, but my dad supports Brighton so I bought it for him for Christmas and had a sneaky read before I gave it to him.

The events in Build A Bonfire were very extreme and naturally dramatic, and so held an interest for any supporter regardless of allegiance. Your stadium saga was a (more elongated and extreme) version of what a lot of clubs (including us) had to go through to get a new stadium, so possibly of less interest to a casual reader.

There were some dramatic bits, which I thought were underplayed in the book, possibly because of closeness in time and to people at the club? You so very nearly lost, in that to all intents and purposes the nimbys had managed to elongate the process to the extent that you couldn't afford a stadium any more. Only the fact that you had somebody prepared to pay for it himself (and how likely was that?) meant that you scraped through. That I think, along with the rather shabby (as it comes across) treatment of Dick Knight could have been made more dramatic?

Be nice, incidentally, when people on your site slag off stadiums like ours as "characterless biscuit tins" that you remembered what an extraordinary set of circumstances led to the stadium you have today. Some of us don't have billionaires ready to step in and have to live within our means....

Just my opinion, still enjoyed reading it.
