We should have hung on to Revell or Elder

That was also an option available. Playing Jake on the right and switching Coxy to the left would have been more effective.

I still don't understand why OGH would have been better than Jake upfront? OGH was at least a yard off the pace for the entire time he was on the pitch. Jake would have been a yard ahead of it!

Possible the pace would have changed it a bit but imo he would have been too lightweight against their CB's

Jake would have been far too lightweight Saturday.

OGH is the best person in the squad for the task Micky wanted doing!!

The player we really missed was McCleod whipping the crosses in as Coxy seemed to have an off day

Firstly I am sure that you are employed to watch the crowd on match days, not the game.

Whilst I agree that Robinson would have been a disaster up front (or on the pitch), Hart at best was poor. He has hardly played up front since the third division days and that showed.

Adams got the positions wrong. Richards should have stayed at left back, Livermore centre midfield, Hart on the right, Cox on the left and Virgo up front.

Firstly there are positions where you can watch the game.

Hart and Cox putting the crosses in with Virgos height? Cox may still have the pace but would Hart? Wouldn't you trust Jake to get the ball into him?

I agree entirely with that.
Not sure what his logic was.

That is just a matter of opinion though and obviously Mickey sees it that OGH is better than Jake

I think Mickey said in his post-match interview something along the lines of

"They'd have been expecting Virgo to be up front, and would've been surprised to see Hart there"

Surprised and delighted in equal measure I'd have thought.

Can hardly complain about Revell. As much as I rated him, £150,000 is great business for a player who didn't score many goals.

As for Elder, I'm not sure he was given enough oppurtunities here. Seems to be doing alright for Brentford albeit at a lower level. And while we made a profit on him, we've gone and used our profit by going out and replacing him with Jonny Dixon who in my opinion and based on what I've seen isn't as much of a threat as Elder anyway.

Southend have signed the type of player that we need as a back up striker Paul Furlong from Luton. He is 39 big, strong will score goals and at his age shouldnt expect to play every week but would be ideal to bring on for the last 15 mins or start if needed.
