No way were we a promotion chasing team last season!

But we have definitely gone backwards.

I just cannot see where you are coming from at all!

Yes we were always adrift from the play offs, but only mathematically impossible with a few games to go.

Play offs were always in sight whether we were likely to reach them or not so yes we were play off candidates up until the last 2/3/4 games...

I cant believe that anybody could enjoy going to support the team even when the results or performances are disappointing, you must have been so happy over the past three seasons.

We've definitely gone backwards. Whether it's a "got to go backwards to go forwards" motion whilst the new manager sorts out the mess left behind by his predecessor, or a permanent state of affairs due to the present manager not being as good as his predecessor remains to be seen.

We've had much more failure than success over the years. If I took your view I would have stopped supporting the Albion many, many years ago.

Is this season really all that different to Adams' first season in charge when we had a quick flirt with the bottom six before an excellent finish saw us dreaming of the playoffs for the first time in years.

I know it's a bitter pill to swallow considering we were fairly close last season but I don't think it's necessarily anything to be too worried about. If we're sitting here this time next year having only just avoided the drop in 08/09 then I guess a lot of legitimate questions need to be asked but I that's a long way off.

Maybe we need to sign a mercurial striker on loan who will go on to bang in tons of goals for the club when we sign him permanently.

I'm always a bit worried when in preseason a new manager comes in and the players start saying how much they are enjoying preseason training compared to the last managers. Usually means it has got easier which I'm not sure is a good thing.

Hull were 18th this time last season in the championship then they pushed for promotion! I know our home performances have been disappointing but it’s still early, the league is tight and if we can get a few consecutive wins we will climb swiftly up the table.

It has to be said that, based on current home form, we have taken a step backwards and it is hard to take however, the time to actually judge and compare will be at the end of the season. I was not keen for Wilkins to get the boot but also was initially not disappointed to see Adams back. What does worry me more than anything is his apparent blind love of Adam Virgo. My preference for Virgo is to play at right back as I think Whing is not playing too well at the moment. Hopefully on Saturday, we can play a midfield of McLeod, Thornton, Savage (or El Abd playing deep) Thomson. I don't rate Aniansah at all but we are stuck with that option up front alongside the sublime Murray (please, no comments from the members of JR love club as he is not fit to tie Murrays boots).

Other than that, we will have to wait for Forster to come back.

You're nearly as bad as Adams, then.

I like Virgs. He's a good centre-back.

He is not a forward.
He is not a winger.
He is not a centre-midfielder.
Nor is he a right back.

The decision on Saturday to withdraw the faultless Whing, just so Virgs didn't have to come off, was the most baffling substitution in a season packed full of them.

Virgo's susequent performance at right back, makes a mockery of your statement above. Whing is a far more accomplished full-back, both defensively and especially going forward.

My favourite bit was when Virgo thought he COULD play right wing, and just dribbled the ball slowly into the defenders legs. Still thinking he was a winger, then tried to dribble it round and past the defender again, but again dribbled it straight at the defender.

Then realising he then wasnt actually able to pass their slow full back, he then resorted to humping 60 yards passes straight to their goalie
Quality wing wizardry

Virgo played pretty well at RB when we went up under McGhee. In fact he's probably played more professional games there than at centreback.

The Whing change was a joke but it's a bit harsh on Virgo to say he was THAT bad. It was his third position of the game, that doesn't help, plus our lack of ideas and Hereford''s retreat meant he was getting a lot of the ball with many men in front of him. OK all he did was lump it into the box most of the time, but I'm not sure Whing would have done much differently.

Walsall was the worst I've ever seen I think, Orient in the league wasn't significantly better. There seems to be a problem with the whole team, not as if there is a certain position to be filled (apart from Forster up front, but I don't think that alone excuses the mess we are in). The signing of Savage looks more like a publicity stunt every time he plays, Hawkins is seemingly shit/unfit, Virgo would be put in goal if it were possible, the whole time is horribly inconsistent and lacks passion, which is worrying with MA in charge. He shouldn't be sacked, and he won't be sacked. I'm still confident he can turn it around, but there is a stagnation about the team at the moment which is not healthy.

I'm not being harsh on Virgo at all. Its not HIS fault that he's being played in a succession of stupid positions. Virgo had a few chanves from RB to cross the ball. Each time he generated no bend on it, and so it went straight through to the keeper. Whing's crossing IS better.

When Mitchell Coopers inevitably gets sent off / injured later in the season, will VIRGO go in goal to complete the set?

We have now played FIVE of the bottomg SIX and beat ONE of them.

Promotion form? No. Relegation form? Yes.

We have not won a league game at home.

Crowds are dropping.

Virgo is playing everywhere but centre back.

We had five wingers yesterday and not one put more than a couple of goods balls into the box.

We have two forwards worth their place in the squad.

People need to inject some realism into the season and accept we are not a promotion chasing side.

I think you'll find everybody has accepted that Mr Self-Indulgent.

You're like the Dick Knight of NSC aren't you? He is suddenly the most visible chairman during good times, you're the most annoyingly visible poster when things are not so good.

I'd swear you actually enjoy Albion not winning.

I wouldn't bet against it happening...

Fair enough, Whing's crossing CAN be better, there's been precious little evidence of it of late though. The only thing he seems to do with the ball now is aimlessly pump it up the line (and this pre-dated Adams). At his best he's a superb rightback at this level. And the subbing of him just to keep Virgo on the pitch is idiotic in the extreme. But I wouldn't go as far as to say Virgo isn't a rightback at all, he can do a decent job there and has proved it in the past. I wouldn't put him in in front of Whing but he's better than El-Abd (or Hinsh) there.
