Don't really agree.

El-Abd is far more mobile, more so than the lumbering Virgo.....

Whatever Micky's view about Virgo/El Abd I think he'll get a chance to try something else very soon. From what I saw of Virgo on Saturday he's a red card waiting to happen.

move Thomson back to his natural position of defensive midfielder and stop trying to get him do things he has never done in his career i.e. be the link between midfield and forwards and for him to get in the box. Then put some one who can do that and we will be a better team

From the Steve Thomson feature in saturdays programme, and I quote :

...."I am really enjoying a new more attacking role. When I first came in Dean (Wilkins) wanted me to sit in a defensive midfield position and play behind the ball, but Micky has told me he wants to see me get forward more. He has give me that licence to get on and into the box during the game. Playing alongside Adam Virgo we have an understanding that if I go forward Adam sits in; whereas if Adam pushes on, I do the sitting"

I agree about El Abd being able to win the ball for Thomson but what you are forgetting is that MA stated that he had brought in Virgo to play and he will play him somewhere, hence my other posts, for which I have been slated, that I feel that he will sooner or later replace Whing at right back as I do not thionk that he and Elphick compliment each other. This brings us back to El Abd who would offer the extra cover that Whing is missing.
