As it happens Derby as well. They released 3 of 4 trialist last week. So who knows, the Polish guy could end up here.

It's a possibility especially as he will know Frutos from when they played at Metz together.

Polish international striker Marcin Zewlakow is set to train with Derby County's first team this week after impressing in a behind-closed-doors match.

He played 90 minutes as a triallist in yesterday's 2-0 defeat by Port Vale at Moor Farm and the 29-year-old caught manager Phil Brown's eye.

Zewlakow plays for Metz in France but his 13 appearances this season contain only four starts.

His previous clubs include Wisla Krakow and Belgian outfits Excelsior Mouscron and SK Beveren.

Zewlakow, whose agent is ex-Rams striker Mikkel Beck, has been capped by Poland and played in the 2002 World Cup finals along with his brother, defender Michal.

Grzegorz Rasiak was the last Polish forward to play for the Rams and was a big hit.

He arrived as a relatively unknown quantity and emerged as the club's leading scorer before being sold to Tottenham Hotspur.

Brown felt Zewlakow did well in his role as a lone striker against a Port Vale side sprinkled with a few first-team squad players.

"I liked one or two things I saw and was impressed with his attitude. He was raring to go, is strong and a decent size, and worked hard," said Brown.

"He is roughly a one-goal-in-three-games striker looking at his record but is he capable of stepping up to Championship level?"
