FFS.

- One point more than games played.
- A negative goal difference in double figures.
- All season in the bottom 6.

You'd think Villa, Leicester and Sunderland were footballing royalty, fantastic clubs, with fantastic fans.

No they are just slightly less shit than 4 other car crash clubs.

A whole season of poor football, next season will be EXACTLY the same, just like last season was for Sunderland and Villa, and yet I'm currently listening to overjoyed Northerners so proud of staying up.

If the only highlight is not being relegated is that actually a highlight.

What's the point of promotion?
I'd rather be poor in the second division, than shit in the first division.

God I hate the Premier League. :spit:

But we are shit in the second division?
We are (were) ploppy in a league we can win or be relegated from.

That has to be better than just being pooh, and grateful there's poohier.

With Bournemouth and Watford already guaranteeing two relegation places for next season, there'll only be one spot left to fill. Next season will be worse

Ploppy? Sorry, it doesn't matter how you try to dress it down, we were utter crap last season, just like Villa and Sunderland have been. I'd imagine all 3 teams will be looking for a vast improvement next time out, but there is absolutely nothing to suggest that we will fare any better than they will in their division?

That's my point, we wouldn't fare any better.
We'd also have nothing all season.
We'd also be left with one possible, incredibly hollow, celebration.
Sunderland, Villa, Hull, Newcastle fans have this every season.

What's the point?.

As for ploppy my original description for this season was very Not Safe For Google.
Hence turning it down from '11', clearly a bit to far the other way.

The point I'm making is that we'll more than likely have another crap season too, regardless of which division we are in

Northern Hemisphere.
I wish they'd give the top 5 teams their own league called the Premiership.

It would give all the other teams in that league finally something to be hopeful about.

Even if that were the case, you say "more than likely".
Sunderland "will" have another crap season.

Since they last arrived in the Premier League for the 2007/08 season, their highest finish has been 10th.
They have only got above 40 points twice.
And have been runners up in the League Cup.

For 8 successive season the only celebration they have had is 'we've not been relegated'.

SB I'm sure you'd love to be a "Domestique" in the Tour de France for just once in your lifetime

as my Old Man always used to say "it's better to of had it,then lost it,than never having it at all"

Being in the PL gives you the budget to afford better players.

You have the increased chance of a Wembley Cup Final, or even win.

You have a small chance of a Europa League campaign as Fulham did a few years ago.

You have much more TV coverage.

I can't see much not to like on balance.

There is absolutely no reason why we couldn't repeat what Southampton, Swansea, Stoke and (urgh) Palace), and so on have achieved in recent years.

I'd be delighted with that, what a fantastic journey they have all been on. One day they will all fall back to the 2nd division, but it's not really important - after-all it's not about the destination, but the journey.

I honestly think that is the first post I have read of yours for a long time, that I actually agree with

You don't suppose they 'celebrated' reaching a Wembley cup final then?
