spoke to a few financial advisers last night at a christmas bash who are close to the Albion and the news was not good

1 If we didn`t have as many points as we do now we would have gone into administration to get rid of the creditors and try and negotiate new deals. Therefore if we ever get into the bottom 3 i would panic.

2 Harding,Hinshelwood,Molango,Jarrett etc are on no more than £350 per week.Even some Crawley,Worthing players get more than them.I think that is ridiculous to pay for these promising players and if i was Harding i wouldn`t sign a new contract.

3 When Harding went to the U21 with England,They should all be insured by England for wages but they thought it pointless to insure Harding. How embaressing for the lad.

Something needs to be done,we need to be told how bad it really is so we can do more to save our club.

1) This is bollocks. We have NOTHING to administrate.

2) Good. Sound business from Knight. Although I would suggest that these financial advisors know as much about their wages as I do. i.e. feck all.

3) Were these 'financial advisors' Palace fans on a wind up?

so the club telling us they're in 2 million debt and asking fans to contribute through A&K doesnt give us an indication of the problem then?

It isn't rocket science FFS is it?

To save our club there needs to be £2,000,000 in the Alive and Kicking fund for short term survival.

Long term survival is simple: FALMER. Therefore, do everything you can do personally to ensure we win the Falmer battle-unless of course you are a NIMBY trying to demoralise everybody in which case you'll come on here spouting rubbish about 'financial advisors close to the club'......?

You will, no doubt, be informed that there are F**KING dozens of threads explaining exactly why administration isn't an option. I suggest you contact your financial advisors 'close to the club' and tell them they are full of shit...

Please stop this, it's like reading a tabloid paper every day,

A source close to the royals,

an insider suggested,

a close friend of the Prime minister,

I'm waiting for the News of the World favourite, with a poster saying, I then made my excuses and left.

financial Advisors close to the Albion got pissed up and said that club was in financial trouble.

shit, and i thought we were out of the woods.............

I would just like to say the club never said we need this 2 million now or we will go bust. They said it was a shortfall after years of battling for falmer and staying at the withdean.

I for one didn`t know we were in such deep trouble that we need to sell our best players. How come we signed Nicolas from Chelsea if we are so in need.It just doesn`t make sense.

DK has never said we are desperate but if we cant sign loan players after the currie sale and the fa cup money then we are in trouble no doubt about it.

My concern is that the recent turmoil in the Boardroom has caused this, and we are being treated like mushrooms! With the begging bowl being passed around.

If the club is in the shite, why still no offer of a share placement?

Now you are talking sense. I feel the same. I just don't understand how this sudden panic for money has crept up on us. So much so that we are selling everyone. All this in a year where;

We have made the play-offs.
Released a new home kit.
Sold Currie for £250,000
A big money match against Spurs.

Why were we signing new players at the start of the season if we has no money then? I know that we have the new enquiry but it's not THAT expensive. The Currie sale alone should cover the extra cost involved in that. What about the other massive income we've had this year?

I think the low response to the A&K fund has forced them to sell players to get too £2.5m, just my view like

I refer you to a posting I made some months ago...

http://www.northstandchat.biz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33925

The Leeds story is well documented - Ridsdale authorises the splashing of the cash, Leeds rise up the Premiership and make it to the Champions League semi-final. Ridsdale is loved by all Leeds fans - held up as an example of how a football chairman should be.

However, the financial wheels come off, Leeds are in a very perillous state and Ridsdale goes from hero to zero before you can say "Mark Viduka is not a mercenary".

In a not too distant galaxy, a struggling third division team employ a succession of high-profile (and, as a result, not cheap) managers. Playing budgets are constantly discussed as being amongst the highest of clubs in the same division. The club enjoys remarkable success - three promotions (and one relegation) in 4 seasons. Like Leeds, the club find themselves playing at a level that is probably above them given their true financial capabilities. The club come out to their fans and ask for some money to help keep things going.

Note: I think the work Knight has done for us is remarkable, but the similarities are there for all to see.

I cannot see any similarities between us and Leeds at ALL!

It still doesn't answer the question of why between the start of the season and now we have gone from being a buying club to being a selling club.

From the comparisons you are making we should get rid of Knight now! But that is not the case at all.

I would be happy if we didn't buy another player all season. But I'm not too happy with selling all our players.

What has happend? Please don't say the enquiry. If that was the case then we would have started selling players as soon as it was announced. This has to be one of the most lucrative years the club has had in recent years adn yet it coincides with a time where it seems we are endanger of going bust?!?

Something just doesn't quite add up for me.

This is complete bullsh1t. Our players were one of the lowest paid squads under Peter Taylor. I remember talking to someone involved at Rushden who said it was a well known thing around the lower leagues that we were paying some of the lowest Football league salaries. Since then, we have had no extra money or renewed contracts since then so your claim is pure drivel.

We have to count our blessings that we have not lost our best players before now on the Conference wages they are on.

Are you questioning the boards position or their usual lack of planning?

DK has stated on a number of occasions that our playing budgets was either the highest or amongst the highest in our division over the past few years. Brighton have always been high payers - look at the cost of living in the South-East for a start....

I agree about the cost of living but sorry but i think DK is lying. How come Mansfield could fully meet Trevor Benjamins salary but we couldn't without rockin the boat?
