We are going DOWN

My view is that what we have is a complete shambles. This is well illustrated by the recent managers we have had. McGhee followed by Wilkins, Adams, Slade and now Poyet. In truth that is a list in order of competence. From what I understand Wilkins was sacked for disagreement with the chairman and because of his methods with players. Well my friends he got us to seventh and that was a terrible decision by our chairman.

We now have a manager without the necessary experience whilst the performances are going from bad to worse. I do not see that he has improved any player and perhaps our one class player Bennett has become at best, ordinary.

Money does not buy a team. It can buy players with ability that can be made into a team. It is true that we have spent £200s on a few players. That however only buys players of ability to play in this league. It does not buy a team to win and it does not buy players who will naturally shine. You need six figure signings for that like when Mullery bought Lawrenson for £100,000 all those years ago.

Beware, we are not just facing relegation this year, but our very future in the 4 leagues. Relegation should be expected this year and we need to build for next to stay in business.

The Championship.. please.. not with this chairman, not with this manager.. and most certainly not with this team or the members in it

And here's me thinking I'm negative :clap2:

or this club. I'm going to support Dean Wilkins (NEAT AND TIDY HAIR) and Hove Albion at St Mary's from now on. All this shambles is because Dick Knight (LIAR!!!!) was so busy burying the money from the 1983 Cup Final under his patio that he forgot his job is to give millions to the manager to buy GREAT players such as Jonny Dixon (if Holly lets her rim her he must be okay) and Shane McFool.

That's why we are going down.

Why do you keep on with this as there is no proof that DK even supported the club in 1983 yet alone had access to the Cup Final Money.

WW total over reaction to losing three matches to probably the best three teams in the league.
Some of the players need sorting out but I am sure Gus will do this we need probably need 3 players and GP needs some time to bed his ideas down, it's been non stop since he arrived. Once the Exeter game is out of the way he can seriously start to sort this team/club out. Cheer up WW you miserable old sod!

The big worry though is that only Leeds have shown themselves worthy, in terms of performance against us, as being one of the best three teams in the league. I confess I wasn't at Norwich away but I've read numerous reports that Norwich weren't all that when we played them. Charlton offered nothing tonight as far as I'm concerned. Two goals from their first two attempts because of our shite defending,YET AGAIN !, and after that they pretty much shut up shop and the game never moved out of first gear for either side.

I'm feeling pretty pissed off with tonight really. A wanker of a ref who just wanted everyone to look at him the whole game and dull dull f***ing mind numbingly dull football from every single player on the pitch. I'd rather have watched a repeat of the Leeds beating than watch us get beat the way we did tonight I'm afraid.

Fair point that it has been non stop since Gus arrived and he will need time, so I'm not going to judge too harshly yet, but I am mightily pissed off with that performance tonight.

I have it on good authority and from an independant source that the Brighton players were not given a FA Cup bonus but tickets which would otherwise have gone to us, the fans. That is how come Man United came to mingle !!!

I am normally positive. Maybe it is my age. The club needs a good experienced Championship player who the others can look up to and follow. Then the tide might turn.

So because they've not been brilliant right away, they're not good enough and we need to get rid and start again? You're following BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION, we can't just go out and buy a new squad. Look at some of the clubs doing well in this league, and look at the number of players they're using. They have smaller squads with better players individually all playing together with team ethic and spirit. We have a huge squad full of players, alot of whom we don't actually need and people we would need to get rid of before replacing. I think you're not being realistic, you're expecting something which is impossible. We have good enough players to get us into midtable, and it could be argued we already have the basis of a squad that could push on and even get in the play-off battle next season.

Poyet's main concern will be getting the players together and playing as a team, rather than thinking about dumping a dozen or so and replacing them with a dozen more.

that is one of the best posts ive read on here and couldnt agree more! we are not f***ing chelsea and never will be! face facts..

we are a big club in this division and would stand out own in the championship with support and status if not for our football (that is some way off yet)

surely until we get to falmer we just need to establish and rebuild a broken club/team and as far as i am concerned it has been broken since coppell left and before that it was broken when liam brady left.

are you all not familiar with this by now!!

just remember we are BHAFC who nearly went out of business and the league not so long ago...

idbe hapy to finish 5th bottom this season and next as long as we get intofalmer and then realy start tobuild from there!! otherwise what are we going to blame out problems on then???

Oh, I don't know - let's think......new plastic stadium, no atmosphere..............away teams really enjoying the chance to play in a brand new stadium............having part of the car park in Lewes......we'll think of something!

Tony Bloom's no mug, and he has his Falmer investment to protect. Relegation is not an option. Expect a fair ol' number of P45s to be handed out come January. And rightly so

No its not been great, but can we just bear in mind that we have just played the TOP THREE TEAMS in this division, back-to-back. There's a more than decent chance those three will be promoted, and we are quite clearly some way off being able to handle those.

We desperately need an experienced, dominant centreback, as well as a goalie. Get that sorted and we will be absolutely fine.

Evening gents - not sure I can face wading through all the posts on here so hoping someone can sum it up for me right now - is it simple mistakes costing us points or are there bigger problems afoot ? Managed to catch the Southampton game on line over here but im dreading coming home for xmas and checking out the boxing day game... feels a little like the bad old days at Gillingham on here at the moment

Yes yes, I know Charlton ARE a top three side as we speak, but do you seriously think their performance tonight looked anywhere near resembling that of a top three side ?, because I don't.

I spoke to a former pro after the game and he was astonished how poor Brighton were. He was singularly unimpressed with Poyet tactically and said, at the moment, he felt Brighton were a good bet to go down.
He watches a fair few games and said Brighton and Stockport were the two worst teams, currently in Div.1

I think they just did the job that was required and if I was a Charlton fan I'd be fairly happy with the performance tonight. Difficult to assess how good they might be as we didn't really threaten their goal at any time imo.

Well, they're certainly no Leeds, I'd agree with you there. But they'll be there or thereabouts in the shake-up. They were disciplined and organised, which is all you need to be in this league.

We played some good stuff in that first half and were unlucky on a few occasions not to take the lead. But we are just so desperately brittle at the back, and you can see the confidence drain as soon as we go behind. But its fixable. McNulty will make a BIG difference once he's back and fully fit, Kuipers can still do a job (I have NO faith in Smith whatsoever, he urgently needs replacing), and Whing will be alright once he gets some games under his belt.

We do just need that grizzled 30-something centreback to get the defence playing as a unit. TOP priority, along with either Kuipers or a new keeper if he's out for too long.

Fair assessment I'd say. Can't really argue with that.
