In the same way that the league table in October was completely meaningless, but the arrogant thought Palace and West Ham were as good as relegated, and that we comfortably mid table.

Crazy decision, especially this late in the transfer window gives the new manager very limited time to know the squad and identify what needs to change and who he'd like to change it. It could work out to our advantage in that respect. They've been on the slide for a while, but their start to the season was excellent, they won 5, drew 2 and lost 1 of their opening 8 PL games including a win over Arsenal and a draw at Liverpool. That would have been a big part in why Silva was wanted by Everton. It looks like they've struggled when the turn around between games became shorter in late November, very similar to us in that respect. They've certainly had some discipline problems that won't have helped. Although 10th they are only 3 points ahead of us, shows just how tight it is for everyone from Watford down.

I think I find it wholly crazy because we are such a settled club whilst all around us are arm flinging in desperation.

Watford are playing a dangerous game. Most managers taking that job would aspire to go on to a bigger job, and Watford are basically saying he got head turned and that has led to his sacking. But most Watford managers don't last that long regardless of whether they're doing a good job or not, so what do the club expect?

This shows the importance of a bit of loyalty from both sides, something that starts with the culture of a football club. Watford used to the regarded as THE family club but a few years in the Prem has eroded that culture.

This is just seriously crazy, Watford, I mean, who the f'ck are Watford? They are 10th in the league, who wouldn't want to be 10th (outside the top 6). Why on earth would you sack your manager that is doing that kind of job? English football just gets more and more crazy.

They're 10th in the league on the basis of their start to the season. Have been one of the worst performing teams in the league since - he's not doing a good job.

2. Ruthlessly sacks managers.

Newcastle, another point in case. It isn't about ruthlessness, as you point out, three have to go down, but I don't for one minute buy the fact that sacking your manager keeps you up.

What about Sunderland who sacked their manager twice a season but eventually succumbed? Ditto Hull, Norwich. When multiple sacking go wrong your club can become a basket case. You don't always need to sack the manager - just look at Sean Dyche. I think a big factor is the group of players at the club and Burnley have got a grounded bunch.

Watford aren't looking to bin off Richardson, even though it's obvious he's had his head turned too.
