Brain dead MUG SHEEP
Fantastic match last night, absolutely engrossing from start to finish. Two highly organised, quality teams playing to win, playing without fear, and laying on a real spectacle for the crowd. The Italians just about deserved it as they had a bit more quality, but what a gallant effort from that German team. Few real "World stars" in their side, but they showed they were a hell of a lot better than most people thought pre-tournament, really rose to the occasion, and played beyond the sum of their parts.
England can certainly talk the talk, but when you see two teams putting on a show like that, you realise that all England have are a group of (talented) individuals who are light years away from being an efficient, effective team such as what we saw last night. On that form, either one of those two last night would have torn England apart. We can't hope to compete with that until we have a coach that can mould our squad of players into a real team.
Not holding me breath, mind.
