BBC NEWS | Scotland | Footage shows boy hit by bus

Police have released CCTV footage of a 14-year-old boy being struck by a bus outside a school in southern Scotland.

Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary want to make other pupils aware of the dangers passing traffic can pose.

The boy broke his nose and shoulder in the incident, which police say he was lucky to survive.

He has now made a full recovery.

Serves him right, what else would you expect jumping on to the road?

Not bad. 7/10 for style. Quite Andy Johnson-esque in the way he went up, and then came down nose first, but he could have scored higher had he rolled around a bit first and then blamed it on the two kids in the bus lane.

Not at all as the mind works much differently when younger as we all know teenagers cannot think logically.

The good news is he was very lucky and survuves.

I hope he realises just how close to a messy death he was. We all say from time to time that we "might get knocked down by a bus" but that is pushing it. What on earth possessed him to jump the railings? Lucky lucky boy.

I just hope that the bus driver is okay. Something like that can put you off driving which in his case would mean loss of his job.

Just another kid who will be further polluting the gene pool in the not too distant future. Keep it up and we'll be a race of amoeba's within a few generations.

Bit harsh, he probably done the same thing every day, jumping the fence into the cycle lane where you can clearly see other people walking. His foot gets caught this time and it just so happens its the same time a bus decides to cross onto the cycle lane. Stupid but deserves a bit of sympathy.

True, but even from the age of 4 I knew you should look and not piss around by a road, common knowledge which this chap was severely lacking at the time.

The only reason he's alive is BECAUSE the bus was quite close to the railing, if it has been a couple of feet further over his head would've been run over by the rear wheel.

Pissing around ON a busy main road = PLANK :glare:
