A wasp died an unpleasant lingering death this afternoon in the beer garden of The Star in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

The unnamed wasp, 5 weeks, was seen to be buzzing around the heads and drinks of several customers who were otherwise enjoying the seasonal sunshine over a quiet drink, whilst watching a spectacular Australian batting collapse on the outside television screen.

Upon landing on the table, without warning, one of the patrons suddenly turned an empty pint glass over the wasp, trapping the pugnacious insect within it's glassy cell. After initially hovering for a while and taking sips of the residue drops of what was believed to be Speckled Hen from within the glass, the wasp visibly weakened, before slumping to the table, where it performed it's dying spasm in full view of it's friends - who did NOTHING to assist.

Once the wasps arse had ceased twitching, it's now impotent sting hanging forlornly from it's rubbish stripey body, the murderer was seen to nonchalently draw the glass across the table, depositing the spent corpse between the slats onto the floor, where it was finally crushed by a size 9 leather loafer from Debenhams, and scraped along the ground a bit for good measure.

The wasp leaves a wife, daughter and 262,443,877,274,955,734,271 siblings, all of whom have been informed.

That makes at least 4 of us then... Started my new job down there a few weeks back.

I'm sorry to hear that. What a depressing little hovel this town is to work in.

Still, its going to be an ideal STAGING POINT for an assault on Millwall on that Friday night next month. Half day from work, some shandies in the Star/Burrell, then a train up to London Bridge to carry on in town before the match. I'm counting the DAYS.

So its not all bad in the Heath.

Lancing!! Sompting actually!
One flew into my pint of Summer Ale at lunchtime, much to the amusement of my work colleagues. He or she had a little swim and was starting to drown in the ale. I poured the ale, much as I hated to, and the wasp onto the grass. Wasp lovers will be happy to know it survived and was seen staggering through the grass of the beer garden humming away

You do know that bees have been tramping around in your honey, don't you?

Why throw away good beer? :drink:

Any chance you could pop downstairs behind my fridge and sort that cricket out ?
