Wasn't there an instance in the late 60's when a doubtful game went ahead...

I remember when we played the 5th round FA cup game at Peterborough in 1986 when there was 3 inches of snow on the pitch. Now we have a mild frost and the game is off. I blame this on Gordon Brown and the Labour government.

Was against Torquay in 1969. The planks of B.R. jumped the gun and assumed the game would be off. The attendance was cut to an awful 5,640! Considered dire in those far off days.

Well done Pinky, you beat me to it.

I went on the old football buses but was surprised at the sparcity of the crowd, only to learn later what BR had done.

It turned out to be a fine 2-2 draw and i remember seeing a picture from that game on NSC once. It was a snow covered pitch and our bus only just made it home having to go up carden Avenue and over to Coldean.

Oh, and bring out the red ball!

I remember that one.

Some wankers smashed our coach window after the game and we had to travel back to Brighton all heaped at the front to keep warm.

No sorry, that was me...I went to throw the steak & kidney pie I'd bought in the ground out of my mum & dad's car window and it broke the coaches window next to me.

Great game though- Apart from that shot that bobbled over Digweeds head and went in the goal

God yes I remember that one - red scarves for all the Albion faithful.
Justin Fashanu attempting to keep his balance and failing miserably.
And then they rolled the streets up at precisely 5.05.
Odd place Peterborough !!

Someone else who needs to learn the difference between snow and frost!

Also, was at that game, without checking reference books, didn't Steve Jacobs get a goal?

Anyone remember the home game against Cardiff in 85?

The weather was so bad that I think it was the only game in the UK to go ahead. This meant an unexpected appearance on MOTD. 1-0 with a Hutchings goal and the East Terrace closed for safety reasons as I recall.

I remember that. The away end was closed so the 50 or so Cardiff fans were put into the North West corner with the Brighton fans. Unthinkable these days!
