My dad was born in Birkenhead and was a liverpool fan so as a kid I supported liverpool until I went to my first game at the age of about 8 or 9 at the goldstone and it was brighton all the way since
For me it is all about where you were born and bred. I was born in Shoreham and grew up in Portslade, so I would class myself as Brighton born and bred.
Cnfession time here. My Mum was born in Leeds but lived in Brighton from 8 years old, her Dad was a Leeds Fan, My Dad is from Rustington and has always followed Brighton on and off.
First team i supported were Everton due to there success in my school years around 84 to 87 two league titles, Fa Cup win and Cup wimnners Cup. But at least i wasn't a complete glory hunter i hated Liverpool.
Became a seagull when my Dad took me to the goldstone in 88.
Wasn't born and bred Brighton but have followed the team since about the age of 9 or 10, first followed Chelsea (only because Peter Osgood played for them, sad but true).
Slightly off topic but does anyone know how to register a junior seagull. My sister in law is about to have a baby, as uncle to be I have been given the task of registering said offspring as a junior seagull as soon as possible after the birth, before an uncle on the other side of the family registers it with Wolves. Can see this ending acrimoniously so I don't want to run the risk of missing out on the chance of welcoming a new "Albion" fan to the World, imagine how disappointed the child would be later in life in the knowledge that it had been stolen by Wolves!!!
Born in the Croydon area. Mum and Dad were both Palace fans and my first pro game was at Selhurst Park. But I grew up supporting Chelsea!
Moved to Lancing aged 8. Went to Brighton games with my new friends but didn't really support them and would sometimes cheer for the opposition if they came from the London area. Then, strangely, a love of Albion overcame me. By about 1970 I was 100% Albion. Also Chelsea went and spoilt everything by winning the FA Cup and were no longer a bunch of useless under-achievers.
Born down the road from Smellworst but my parents, bless 'em, wanted me to move out such a poluuted environment so I moved to Sussex when I was 5 years old.
my dad was also an albion fan and i can still remember my early days at the goldstone. great times. i did go through a liverpool phase but like most of us i grew out of it.
Born and raised in Brighton, but the folks were not into football at all. I started by just watching the 'Brighton' scores on the telly on Saturday afternoons, but had no idea who played for them, where the ground was or anything. It just never occured to me, living in Brighton, to look out for anyone else's results.
First game, out of the blue, at 14 - a next door neighbour took me. Became a commited fan within about 20 seconds of experiencing the real thing, the crowd, the sounds, the smells, everything, and haven't looked back since. So grateful to the bloke who took me, who I haven't seen since! Christ knows what I'd be doing with my Saturdays now if he hadn't taken me to that game.
Born and raised in Sussex although mum from Brixton and dad from Horley. Could have been Palace I suppose but thankfully I chose Albion, don't understand why people choose teams they didn't grow up near. (confession though, I did look out for Man Utd for a few years aswell after persuasion from other members of the family)
