To be fair, I don't think Liverpool were really in their prime - they were on their way out. Still, they were a top 5 or 6 side at the time and we looked dead and buried at 2 down.

I remember that day because some scally kids offered to "mind my car" for 20 pee, and of course my JOHNNY CRUMPLIN FOOTBALL T-SHIRT absolutely ROCKED.

They were the title holders and finished runners up that year and the following year won the F.A.Cup, maybe not in the prime of the mid eighties but still no mean acheivement.

I was right down near the front as well and I swear John Byrne had a smile on his face as he was about to break the ball with his head. He just knew he was gonna score. Brilliant goal. Didn't we have a chance to win it in the final minute as well? And we were robbed in the replay.

I was in the Kop that day, couldn't get an away ticket. All I remember is Rush looking bloody quick, and screaming into my coat.

Woah, goose bumps...........

How did Steve McMahon miss that sitter in front of the North Stand in the replay?

What a season that was - Bryan Wade 4 Newcastle 2 being the best game
