Tactically naive and some of the selections were bewildering. Not gonna argue about it, did too much of that before the game, and no I don't play Football Manager or whatever it's called but Gus should put his hand up and say he got it wrong today - nothing wrong with that

He couldn't do that as he publicly came out after the Millwall game and put his hands up and said he got it wrong.

Everyone and their dog knows he got it wrong today.

But hey ho, what a cracking season we've had.

I love The Gus Bus, and I can see where it's headed.

I don't really do negative, and I certainly don't do negative towards the players. Everyone deserves their place in this team. However when the team was announced I did sit back and think it was a bit weak.

Had my full backing but now I'm rapidly going off him. Tinkering yet again. Does the guy realise not to keep doing it. Added to which he keeps changing the formation. At times it appears he playing some computer game.

Really really pissed off.

Players still attempting to play from the back when they were swarming all over us. SOMETIMES just f***ing SOMETIMES you have to f***ing clear it, you idiot. Ideology my arse.

But Gus always knows best. How very dare you be critical.

Of course Gus was making a point. By using the team mostly based on our league one triumph (without loans) he was showing that there is no way we are close to competing in the premiership. This is our standard. Without a large investment we cannot hope to survive at a higher level. There would be no point in promotion which would be impossible to maintain.

Perhaps he should have told this to all the fans that travelled to Upton Park before they bought their tickets etc?

I can see why Gus chose the team he did. But at half time it clearly hadn't worked. Why in heaven's name he took off Assulin and kept Dicker and Navarro on I'll never know.

Absolutely f***ing bewildering why he took Assulin off and left those on.I am a bit worried if Gus keeps this going next season.

'Was Gus trying to prove a point with the team selection today?'

Please stop trying to make out like its deep thought on the part of the manager. Its draughts, not chess.

I was surprised at the team selection, but I don't think it was to blame.

Ridiculous post.
No width, pace, Barnes as sole target man and attacking option, clearly unfit Dicker plays 90, negative approach to game by having little attacking options, Painter recalled for huge game despite being shown up at this level, Assulin (who has played limited mins in first team) drafted in to play key game when others more proven within squad, substituituons that didn't change formation or approach, and no changes made at HT despite dogshit performance in first half.

Gus has taken this club forward in many ways. Today he made many mistakes.

Well Gus got it wrong today. Against the 6 foot plus giants, who wack it forward and shoot for the lucky deflection, and if it works then BigSam smiles - how do you play? Do we field a team of 6 foot plus body builders or try choose the team that can hold the ball, pass it around, retain possession. Maybe he made the right decision or maybe he made the wrong choice. Only hindsight has the answer. Which is what he said in his interview.

So they just cannot cope then? Going back to Calderon and Painter, was always going to end in only one result. They were exposed against the better teams in Div 1 last year. Today was further proof if needed!

Totally agree.

Love Calde but he is not fast enough and of quality we need now. Painter is a league 1 defender. Expect both to depart in summer.

I think any Albion fan, however long they have supported the team, have a right to criticise. Be you 8 or 88 if you pay your money into the club, by whatever method, you have a right to an opinion. I personally think Gus was tacticaly lacking in todays selection and subsequent formation. I think he balls it up!
HOWEVER, I do not want Gus or Tanno to leave, we have a great home, great management (overall) and a chairman who loves us and spends his cash (although a bit more on the wages budget would be good Tony!) and will eventually deliver a premiership side called 'Brighton & Hove Albion'

terrible team selection whatever the reasons - really pissed off as we were humilated today. How about picking the same 11 that started against Reading and saying same again please lads.

I think today showed that Poyet still has a long way to go if he wants to become a top manager. I love him but everyone on here makes him out to be god and that you can't argue against his decisions. He's still learning his trade.

Everyone is entitled to their right to have an opinion and to say that Gus balled it up. How would you have played? What team would you have picked and why? Tell us how you are so tacticaly (sic) superior? How come you are only an accountant or banker? Everyone can have an opinion... but at least back it up with sanity.
