[Albion] Was forcing Sanchez out the worst decision our club has made in years?

There is no evidence to back up this assertion. In the last 7 years we have had ryan, button, krul, sanchez, steele, verbruggen. Only one of those was prone to staying on his line.

Not sure the use of the f word to describe the manager helps you here.

what you arent aware of is that all the keepers had the opportunity to adapt to the style the manager wanted. Steele watched videos of the keepers at rdz's previous clubs and added the sole roll to his toolbag. He did try and share this with the other keepers.

We binned him because he didn't want to adapt. And because he refused to sit on the bench when someone else did. He also decided to slag off his competition for that shirt and upset the team dynamic

Again purely conjecture

We don't need no saving goals
We just need more sole control
No more Robert Sanchez, mr Tony Bloom
And goalie... leave them shots alone

Just far enough away from LDC

Football is won by scoring more goals than the opposition. If a keeper contributes to more goals than he concedes then the team is successful.

If the keeper is pissing off his colleagues and damaging team morale then his personal save percentage value diminishes.

What so difficult about that? And why the sarcastic post that ignored the detail of my considered reply to you?

The issue is the often massive impact that those 1.5% of failed short passes have.

Massive impact?

Verbruggen has made 3 mistakes leading to goals this season.

In the Fulham game it may have cost us points, but we had drawn level and really should have gone on to win that game.
The one against United didn't cost us any points in the end.
I'm not sure what the third one was, or whether it was from a pass or not or whether it actually cost us any points.

Our style of play has massively contributed to our position in the table, and the types of player we are now able to sign.
If we were in Southampton's position, I could understand it being seen as an issue.

But we aren't.

Oh you're talking about the penalty, the one where Ayari demands the ball but doesn't move towards the pass? That's not a Verbruggen mistake it's more on Ayari.

Save percentage counts a worldie save the same as a dribbled effort from 45 yards straight at the keeper, it doesn't take into account how good the save actually was.

If you look at Post Shot xG prevented per 90 you get a better understanding of how good a goalkeeper is at shot stopping. Sanchez is much lower in this category but still slightly above Verbruggen.

One of the most important metrics on that table is the PSxG/SoT (Post Shot Xg per Shot on Target)

This can be construed to mean how good the chances were that were faced.
Sanchez has the lowest metric here at 0.24.
Bart's is 0.30
On average Bart has to save chances 25% harder than Sanchez.
