Flying to Poland for a stag weekend on Friday.

Has anyone been there recently? Any good places to go.

As you can probably guess, I'm NOT talking about museums and art gallerys....

Do not bother is my advice with Poland.

Last time we went to Warsaw, two of our party got nicked, locked in a mental hospital and had all their cash removed by the police.

When we tried to get in our digs one night, about 15 OB turned up and tried to arrest us again and it was only because the owner vouched for us that we got into the hostel.

Oh and those batons the police have hurt like f***, other than that it is a great place.

However Warsaw is better than Katowice.

Been to Warsaw a couple of time, many years ago under communism. Guess it's probably changed a lot since then.

The Old Town is interesting, but I think it was completely re-built after the second world war.

Auschwitz , thats a place to see - but at the other end of the country I think.

Went to Warsaw 5 years ago, its okay, if hot the girls wear remarkably short skirts. I suggest you stick to the Old Town and the central district. As soon as you get there get hold of the Warsaw Insider (if it still exists) an English language guide to the best places to eat and drink. We picked up a copy in the Marriott Hotel shop.

What hotel are you staying in?

Cheap beer, beautiful women, Poland's the bollocks.

Have to agree with the general sentiments though: Krakow is a better place than Warsaw....even if I can't really see a stag party hitting Auschwitz

Agree with the Krakow sentiments, been there 3 times now. A lovely city which can also geta bit tasty if you are in the wrong place late at night but don't let the deter you. Some lovely architecture and the Jewish ghetto remains for your viewing 'pleasure'. Some bloody good clubs too, surprisingly.
