how can anyone argue that because notts county beat us nearly TWENTY years ago warnock should not be manager?!

using this school of though, i would NOT take scolari as england manager because his sides have knocked us out of the last three tournaments

i would bite your arm off to have warnock now, certainly in place of wilkins

I don't really like the dirty style of his teams, and telling your players to deliberately hurt the opposition doesn't sit right with me. No thanks....

In the event of Wilkins not cracking it and July 9th decision going in our favour and new investors coming in I believe he would be the ideal manager to take us to Falmer and possibly the Premiership.

I'd love him here. He's said that Brighton is one club he'd love to manage; he's a good manager and strikes me as a decent bloke too. I genuinely can't understand why people wouldn't want him - because his team beat us in one game 16 years ago sounds like a pathetic excuse to me. Surely the fact that he can prepare teams for a big day is a reason for wanting him to come here?

We'll forget the priming his teams to cheat then shall we? The "injured" players slowing the game down to stop the opposition playing fluently is unacceptable to me and was a big factor in that Notts County team of 20 years ago. Nothing's changed, wasn't it him who managed to get a game abandoned by pulling "injured" players off because his team were getting well beaten a couple of years ago? I like to win but don't want a cheat for amanager thanks.

I don't understand this. You seem to be saying that you don't want a manager who slows down the game when his team is winning. I don't like it very much either, but just about every manager in the Football League does it. I've seen plenty of Albion teams waste time and feign injuries over the years (including the present one - look at El Abd going down like a sack of spuds every time he's touched). Why single out Warnock for a tactic that is universal?

I was actually at the Wembley Play-off and the big factor in them beating us was that they were better than us. I certainly don't recall any excessive time wasting from that team - why should they? They were 3-0 up until the last few minutes and generally bossing the game.

It's true that his team were physical in the Prem but they didn't have the quality of most of the opposition. To me, making use of meagre resources is exactly the sort of quality that we need at the Albion and, as I said, I genuinely don't understand why someone wouldn't want a proven quality manager here, particularly one who has said many positive things about the Albion over the years?

Fair enough I understand why most would want him, I just don't like the guy or the way his teams play football. He would undoubtably improve us but so would plenty of other managers without turning us into a team who's professionalism would embarass me. If you are suggesting that he is the only decent manager we could attract then I'd have to reconsider.

He wouldn't drop to this division [unless possibly to Leeds or Forest]

We couldn't afford him.

End of.
