Neil Warnock has agreed to step down as Sheffield United manager, according to Sky Sports News.

The news is expected to be confirmed at a press conference later this morning.

Warnock had a meeting on Tuesday with club officials - who are believed to be reluctant to end his seven-and-a-half year tenure - having indicated after Sunday's relegation he would take a number of days to consider his future.

He indicated last week he was unhappy with the club's new contract offer, which has now dropped significantly in light of the Blades' relegation.

Had Warnock kept his side in the Premiership he would have been offered a reported £750,000 deal, which is now reportedly worth £450,000.

If we have a poor start to the season with Wilkins, I would demote Wilkins to assitant and bring in Warnock.

Warnock departure, just heard him say on R5:

1) "... not a row about contract"
2) "... mainly due to West Ham situation"

As ever!

Welcome to Withdean anytime as a visitor - God help us if he arrives as our manager.

So, when FIFA overrule the enquiry and dock WHU 10 points so Sheff U stay up - does good old Neil get his job back ?

BTW - I think he wants to work for 2 more years before retiring and really wants to stay in thhe prem.
