Warming to Roy Keane as a pundit

Adrian Childs used to be good on Working Lunch, was OK on the One Show ... but now so so dull.
Chiles was quality on MOTD2 back in the day, too. These days he's an absolute bore.

What I like about Keane is that he says what he thinks - isn't that what you want pundits to do? There is way too many guarded comments and tepid remarks for my liking. Love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, he's alright in my book.
I like him for this reason too. He has clearly got an agenda and belief that British Isles football is really not good enough. His belief that talk of Irish fans was masking the deficiencies of another feeble Irish tournament, and his criticism of various huff and puff England are both testament to this. Sometimes his criticism is misdirected, but I'd definitely take this over more BLAND. Southgate is a woeful pundit.

I can't stand him on there. Just comes across as miserable, bitter, curmudgeonly old git. He sits there and talks about desire and committment, as the guy who flounced off home after a spat with the manager.
Ultimately he served his country well up until that point and wanted more than just to make up the numbers. Clearly his flounce was inexcusable, especially the way he talked to McCarthy, but his desire and committment were always there.

But he's not the worst on the Euro coverage, all the time Carragher keeps getting brought into a studio.
You're spot on here. Carragher is a grade A twunt and a f***ing bottle job. I'm not interested in what he has to say, and ITV are twats for employing him.

Even if I could put his England past behind me, I'd find him infuriating, because he offers absolutely no interesting insight either into teh mindset of teh players, or teh tactical approach to teh game. But seeing as I can't ignore that he QUIT International Footbal, which always annoys me, only to suddenly decide he then fancies a trip to South Africa, before promptly returning to "retirement" rather than get drawn into actually having to qualify. Argh, what a knobjockey.

Mediocrity? That's the Republic Of Ireland. Parker gave his all, as did Gerrard and Milner. You think beating Ukraine in Donetsk in front of 56,000 Ukrainians in a do or die contest is easy? I loved the shot of Parker, having fallen over, crawling on all fours to make a tackle with his head. That's the sort of bulldog spirit Lampard and Barry can only dream of.

Blimey, do we still have that old fall-back position of 'bulldog spirit' - the last bastion of hope when all other attributes (skill, technique, ability, guile, craft, awareness etc) have not bothered their arses to turn up?

At least it's good to know it's still alive and kicking.

I agree with you, the really enjoyable part of this England side is that they are giving their all, and giving it as a team not just individuals, however despite that Parker, Milner, Young made us terribly weak in midfield with sloppy passing, not looking for space enough, and just panicking if they got the ball in a tight spot. All of them gave 110%, but I couldn't say any of them had a good game. The positives for me is that I think each of them can play better, and will need to against Italy.

Love him. Southgate couldn't have laced his boots as a player, and now honest Roy tells it straight and boots Southgate's inane diplomatic comments into touch.

Adrian Childs used to be good on Working Lunch, was OK on the One Show ... but now so so dull.

Chiles' portrayal as the jocular buffoon is starting to wear a bit thin. He was there in the studio yesterday, trying to make light of England's situation at half-time and he had 3 ex-pros looking at him with their 'shut up you prick, this is SERIOUS' looks on their faces.

I do like Roy Keane - why does he get slaughtered for speaking his mind? We HAMMER BBC/Shearer/Lawrensen for trotting out banal SHIT, so Keane's outpourings are a breath of fresh air.

There was a distinct lack of it at the last World Cup. When I saw Milner come off last night absolutely knackered I realised this was a sight we never saw in South Africa. And what's wrong with bulldog spirit? It's how we won the World Cup in '66 having conceded a late equaliser in normal time. Lesser men than Messrs Moore, Hurst, Sir Bobby etc might have crumbled under the pressure.

Hart has more fight than Green. Lescott is more dogged than Rio. Parker is more tenacious than Barry. Flowing football is one thing, but I'm enjoying watching England play as a team with a bit of pride in ther jersey.

Cant stand Adrian with all his England comments, really pisses me off. Keano Is okay and he tells it like it is. I like Carra as a pundit tbh.
