Walton Recalled

Begs the question of what the bloody point of Ankergren is.

Youth football coach, who has stayed registered as a player, so we have a third keeper cover who doesn't cost a great deal. He's served the club well.

We simply cannot run the risk of even a small injury to stockdale keeping him out for 2 or 3 games and having to play Casper.

Agreed, so what is the point of Casper still being here? Surely get rid in the summer, even if hes only on a few hundred quid a week, its a waste of wages. Way past being competitive at this level, much better to try and blood one for the future than rely on one way past his sell by date.

Ankergren to Luton on Loan

Naylors tweet says Maenpaa injury is not serious, so kinda begs the question!

Bloom wouldnt let Dale S go for 8-9 mill (with reasonable cover) no chance he will let Dave S go from this position in the league. Zero

No it doesn't.

The club needs three keepers. We've always had three keepers, covering injuries and suspensions.

Tony Bloom also said we wouldn't sell anybody we didn't want to. Also Chelsea haven't made a bid.

Maenpaa's injury is not serious, but he's unlikely to be fit enough to cover Thursday so we need our best cover, and that is Walton. It's as simple as that.

Just means Walton on the bench for Huddersfield, and first line cover for Stockdale until Maenpaa is fit.

Perhaps Sanchez will be loaned out to gain some first team experience?

Yes but the recall of Walton will have nothing to do with that as we still have Bailey Vose and Billy Collings for the U23's.

I would have preferred Walton to stay at Luton and actually play rather than coming here to sit on the bench for a couple of weeks if Maenpaa's injury isn't that bad. We must have decided that there was no decent goalkeeper available on loan or as a free agent that could come in and provide cover.

WALTON RECALLED FROM LUTON TOWN

Brighton & Hove Albion have recalled goalkeeper Christian Walton from his loan spell at Luton Town, as a precautionary measure, following an injury to Niki Maenpaa.

Walton, 21, returns to provide back-up for first-team goalkeeper David Stockdale, while Maenpaa recovers from the shoulder injury sustained during Saturday's FA Cup tie at Lincoln City.

Manager Chris Hughton said, "While Niki's injury is not as bad as we first feared, he will be sidelined for a short period of time, and during his period of rehabilitation we will need goalkeeping cover for David Stockdale.

"Christian has been playing regularly at Luton Town and has really benefitted from his time there; ideally he would have continued, but he is now needed back here to ensure we have proper cover in the goalkeeping position."

Walton has played 33 times for Luton this season, adding to his four senior appearances for Albion, and ten games played on loan during spells at Bury and Plymouth Argyle.
