Anyone been there? We're going for a long weekend with Polly and Giles for Easter. Any recommendations on things to do and any decent pubs will be showing the big game next Friday?

Spend an afternoon in Frinton. Then go back to Walton on the Naze.

After that, Walton on the Naze will seem brilliant.

Is Frinton the place that won't allow a chippy and other retail outlets?

From Wikipedia:
"The town has a reputation for a Conservative nature (although it was in a Labour constituency from 1997 to 2005). Until recently there were no pubs, although there have long been bars in seafront hotels and at the golf and War Memorial clubs. The first pub, the Lock and Barrel, opened in 2000."

That depends on whether Polly and Giles are:

A. Your children
B. Your pet dachshunds
C. Your close friends who also have Pampas Grass in their garden

With a little more information, we may be able to help with further advice.

Well, just their names, Polly and Giles, should tell you a little bit about them.

Living in London a while a go had a long weekend booked there with my girlfriend and a mate and his girlfriend. We spent about an hour there before deciding we'd be better off jumping back in the car and driving down to Camber Sands instead. Good Old Sussex by the Sea I say!

Not sure if you get real 'Essex Girls' in Walton, like you do in say Brentwood.
If you do then it will go up a tad in my estimation because I have met and dated a few in my lurid past and I must admit I like them, a lot.
The Goldmine nightclub on Canvey Island brings back some great back seat memories as does a holiday in Kardamena, Kos.

Harwich for the Continent, Frinton for the Incontinent.
Wondered how long that one would take. True though.
Colchester v Doncaster on Good Friday is not too far to go.
The Art Deco houses off the sea front between Walton and Frinton. That's about it.
The Victory in Walton is a proper pub (if it's still there) with decent beer.
The Lock and Barrel in Frinton used to do good food in the 'pub grub' category.
