Steve McClaren is set to be named as Wet Spams new manager, with Everton's #2 Steve round as his assistant.

Probably a big improvement on Grant, but an appointment that wouldn't excite me if I was a hammer.

He will definitely get them out of that league. Good appointment.

Which way ?

* Note : I don't actualy dislike SM personally, but he was an aweful choice for an England manager.

Going against the grain I'd say he was unlucky and choosing a rookie keeper proved a massive disaster. If we had qualified I sincerely doubt he could have inspired as many shite performances in the Euros as our all conquering qualifiers managed in SA under Capello.

Good manager and he'll do well there with some money and not too much interference.

best englishman available at the time, which shows just how stupid it is that people are STILL crowing about getting another one in after capello. he just took the job way too early by being only four or so years into his managerial career

can definitely see west ham being big players in the division next season if that is true and he is allowed to get on with things in his own way

What a crew at that club eh?

I predict McClown will do spectacularly badly there, and lose his job by the new year.
He's had his days in English football and would have done well to remain abroad imo.

This thread will get bounced at some point I know, but I'll take my chances.

I think his nemesis - and ex West Ham man - Slaven Bilic would do a much better job, and be far more popular with the fans.

They'd do far better to bury the hatchett and re-appoint Alan Curbishley.

He did it with Charlton and took West Ham from relegation zone to 10th before resigning as players were sold without his permission.

Curbishley is their ideal man

For the record, Bilic's record as Croatia manager is an amazing:

Get your money on West Ham now, if McLaren goes there their odds will shorten big style. A much improved managed to the one who was hounded out of the England job, bringing an exciting 21st century fusion of the best of British and European styles of play together.

I dont care what Mclaren did in Holland. He is totally uninspiring as a boss and I'd hate him to be in charge at my club. I predict him to FAIL.
