That's my concern - the Midlands will be the coldest part of the UK tonight, with temps not really recovering much during the day. I know they've got covers on the pitch, but it was not covered prior to the snow fall earlier in the week, so will probably still be frozen underneath.

I live in Wolverhampton (about 5 miles away).

Today has been the first day in over a week when I have not seen any ice on my walk into work. There was a lot of ice about at 7pm last night, but it all seems to have thawed overnight.

I would guess that the game is a goer, although Black Country Seagull actually lives in Walsall and may be able to give a better indication than I can.

But I'd guess any grassed areas would still be frozen to at least a few centimeters after the 2 weeks of cold weather we've had. It was -6C on my drive to Lewes this morning, and very frosty. With drier air coming in over the midlands today, tonight will see temps down to -7C or -8C with no cloud cover... I don't know that local area (and how it fares in frosty conditions), but I'd say it's marginal.

Look at this minimum temp forecast chart for Saturday morning (courtesy of the GFS).

There is no sign of a warmer end to Saturday either, so I'd still say it's in doubt.

Friday morning here in Walsall, 9am, no snow, no frost, the ground is soft as the snow has melted, I would say this game will be 100% on as even with a frost tonight they have covers on the pitch!

If it is not, will probably pop along to Molineux to watch Wolves v Preston.

I will be doing the same in the event of a postponement, however, I only live across the road from Molineux, so wont have the same long (potentially pointless) journey to suffer as everybody else.

If the game does go ahead I think a round of applause for the groundsman would be deserved! He seems to have worked his nuts off this week to get this game on, I am not sure we would have gone to the same effort!!

Cheers Mr Groundsman and if you could just leave those wood burners in the away end that would be much appreciated

Walsall latest forecast

Despite a severe frost tonight temperatures look set to rise tomorrow and with the temperature not set to drop below freezing all day tomorrow the chances must be very high the game will be on.

what happened last week, I was out the country?

All SUnday Leagues in Brighton League have been called off too now

Brett, does this include Sussex Sunday League games on Brighton pitches? Can you clarify source? (I know, simmer and reduce).

Cheers
