Potential play off final

Who would you prefer make it?

On one hand,I have Scottish relations

On the other, who can forget 1977

Joe Jordan's own hand of God

They owe the Welsh one

No problem with Wales at all (although a few mates of mine who are into the egg-chasing do). Also they were great fun at Euro 2016.

Wales.

Scotland fans mostly hate England so I can never get behind them.

The Welsh don't seem as rabidly anti English.

The 2 Welsh that sat behind me in Yokohama at the 2019 Rugby World Cup final were as anti- English from start to finish as I have ever heard anyone from any country be in any situation. It surprised me to be honest.

It’s a cultural thing in rugby I think.

In Wales it is a very working class game. Most certainly isn’t in England.

Very unlike football.

One of Italy or Portugal staying at home. Seem to remember Italy missing out last time.

After their relentless ABE, fuggem.

Twenty years ago I would have been pleased for either

I'd like them both to qualify but I hope Scotland make it. There is always drama with Scotland at a World Cup.

Well I was in Gelsenkirchen for the Ronaldo wink quarter final, and Wembley for the Italy final this year, so I’ll be happy to see either of these teams knocked out! On balance I’d say I’d rather see Italy go out.

Don't really care so long as we don't get drawn against them. I find the build up to our games against them utterly tedious.

On second thoughts is it wrong to think it'd be funny if they both got knocked out before they even got to play each other?

Think chances are good that Scotland will be knocked out.

My playoff predictions

Wales vs Austria
Scotland vs Ukraine

Wales vs Ukraine

Russia vs Poland
Sweden vs Czech Republic

Czech Republic vs Poland

Portugal vs Turkey
Italy vs North Macedonia

Italy vs Portugal

Wales, Czech Republic and Italy going to the WC. A little bit sad for Sweden (and Zlatan), think we would have stomped Russia or Poland but the Czechs are good.

You don’t really believe this. Czechs aren’t all that. Zlat will see you good.

Clearly you've never experienced Wales v England in Cardiff, as I have a couple of times. I have a vivid recollection of a group of 10-14 year olds being encouraged by (presumably) their parents to hurl all sorts of vitriole at us as we headed to the away section. Easily on a par with my trips to Glasgow with England; in fact we were actually welcomed into the local bars without issue there (unlike Cardiff).

I voted Scotland, as they are less of a threat on the pitch and far more likely to provide comedy value by losing to someone like Qatar.

as a Scot I obviously want Scotland to qualify but having supported Scotland since the mid 90's I'm well accustomed to noble failure. So I'm expecting a BRAVE 1-0 defeat to Ukraine
