I moved to Wadhurst approximately 10 years ago.
It has no banks, a doctors surgery but no doctors, 4 estate agents, 6 coffee shops, 4 barber shops, 1 nail bar, 2 pubs and a co-op.
Oh, and a kebab shop that shuts at 9:30 every evening.

And some other stuff.

lady from Wadhurst history society told us this morning you can buy anything even during pandemic.

i think she has a very narrow view of "everything".

Neither here nor there
Just driven through the place on Google. I can't remember ever doing so in real life, though I've always lived in East Sussex.

Looks quite pleasant. But then a lot of villages and small towns in that part of the world do too.

I find that VERY hard to believe, but it is a nice enough place where I’d happily live.

I’ve never been to Wadhurst but living in Chichester and seeing this comment when they mention it was deemed worthy of inclusion by the judges ensures they have no credibility with me whatsoever………”was praised for its good schools and transport links” I’ve no idea on the schools but good transport links 😂😂😂

It means you can get out of there quickly.

Well I'm just down the road from you tonight, knowing Wadhurst very very well because I went to school there.

Wadhurst is a nice little village as the one I am in now, but the best place to live in the UK ?

What a lot of nonsense.

Great transport links ? Oh my days.

The funny thing about this part of the world is the train stations aren't any where the villages where they claim to be or the only thing in the village.

Wadhurst Station is so far out the village you need to drive there, Frant Station is actually in the next village, Etchingham doesn't even have a pub (or a shop) and Stonegate is effectively just a train station.

Lovely part of the world where I grew up, but best place ? Ridiculous.

Thames Ditton
looking at the results they have compared wadhurst (never heard of it) and Liverpool (which is also on the list).

These lists are just click bait to see if where they live is on the list. Easy crap article to write. Although i am sure Wadhurst is delightful.

Yep, rail links are ok if you want to go to London or Hastings, can’t get to Brighton though.
Plus if you do park at the station, you run the risk of getting your catalytic converter robbed off your vehicle.
Nice place to live, but the best? Nah

Their council hasn’t wasted funds on cycle lanes
As you mention cycling, that is one thing Wadhurst has going for it. Lots of good roads for cycling around Wadhurst, both the narrow Sussex lanes and even some of the more main roads too, deep in the High Weald, used to love heading over that way. Also done quite a bit of racing on the Frant-Wadhurst-Lamberhurst loop too, wonder if that's still used?
