Yes worked with him when I was there, didn't know he'd retired! Hope he is well.
We worked for the same company ~30 years ago so I'm not in contact with him and I doubt he would remember me - I was a horrid teenager breaking the equipment he was employed to fix!!

Congrats to the Volks Railway. To beat so many Heritage Railways with more numerous and more variable rolling stock and longer running distances is quite a coup :clap::clap::clap:

It is good to remember that the line uses the "third rail" and Magnus Volk lived to see the Brighton line and subsequently many other "Southern" routes electrified in the same manner.. In saner times Ashford - Hastings and the route to Lewes via Crowborough would have been "juiced" .

Are there any Volk descendants still around, perhaps even on this board ?.
