I really like the Isle of Wight. The ferry crossing makes it "special" and it's a bit like a different country.

They really missed a trick when they closed all the railway lines except the one from Ryde to Shanklin. Imagine if they had kept the whole network in place and steam operated? It would be a tremendous draw for tourists and steam enthusiasts. As it is there is only one short section of line operated as a steam heritage railway.

I never really use the Trains now ,usually use the buses .Even on the quiet IOW Friday and Saturday night you can have a night out and jump on a bus at 3am and get back to where your staying .

Been to the Isle of Wight for the last 4 years for Bestival, we always spend another night on the island in Ventnor, beautiful place.

The Garlic farm is worth a visit as well.
