Most Yanks have no idea where they live, let alone where the UK is:moo:
Last time I went to New York was in 2006.
We had a delay at JFK Airport on the way back and spent quite a few hours drinking at the one bar :drink:
The Gents Toilet was on the other side of the departure lounge due to building work going on.
This dopey cow (she had a gun ) interrogated my brother in law and I every time we paid a visit to said convenience and on the way back as well.
I said to her after the third time 'don't you recognise us' and she called a ROBOCOP colleague:eek:

True. It's a weirdly worded question as well, about "crimes of moral turpitude." What exactly does this mean?

Its changed now so its

"Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?"

But with no definition of what "serious" is meant to be

I see. Do they still have the question about terrorist activities? Wonder how many people get caught by this?

It's a grey area. It's in my uni contract too, and includes things such as shagging students, which is legal but goes beyond my duty of pastoral care.

There are now 8 questions

1) Do you have a physical or mental disorder; or are you a drug abuser or addict; or do you currently have any of the following diseases:
Chancroid
Gonorrhea
Granuloma Inguinale
Leprosy, infectious
Lymphogranuloma venereum
Syphilis, infectious
Active Tuberculosis
2) Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?

3) Have you ever violated any law related to possessing, using, or distributing illegal drugs?

4) Do you seek to engage in or have you ever engaged in terrorist activities, espionage, sabotage, or genocide?

5) Have you ever committed fraud or misrepresented yourself or others to obtain, or assist others to obtain, a visa or entry into the United States? *

6) Are you currently seeking employment in the United States or were you previously employed in the United States without prior permission from the U.S. government?

7) Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa you applied for with your current or previous passport, or have you ever been refused admission to the United States or withdrawn your application for admission at a U.S. port of entry?
If yes: when and where
8) Have you ever stayed in the United States longer than the admission period granted to you by the U.S. government?

My brother has a small conviction for fraud but he got in last week with no issues

Funny that there's no question about which bathroom you are planning on using when visiting the US.

Was just going to mention how friendly and welcoming US Customs are. They'll do anything to make sure you're not delayed any longer than is necessary!!

It's a good idea to have a little joke with the customs officer, lighten the mood.

ESTA.

Doesn't matter if you tell them it's business, just make sure you get the address correct...mine showed a zip code that for some reason didn't exist...even though it's our Denver office!

Totally agree about a chipped passport! Took only 15 minutes through Miami immigration using the new passport machines...took 2 1/2 hours to get through Houston 4 months ago queueing up!

Scenario is that me and me and my family are off to the states for 3 months in June. When I applied for the esta for my 6 yr old daughter, I scrolled to "no" for the question "have you ever out stayed your welcome in the USA?" However, the mouse had different ideas and logged a "yes". So at present, me, my wife, my 4 yr old son can all go to the states, however my 6 yr old can't! I've got a question logged with the border and customs police, however i reckon its gonna be a trip to the embassy with my daughter to sort this out. Sigh

You probably filled one out on the plane. They changed the rules a couple of years ago, now you have to complete it online before your flight.
i was asking about the chipped passport , i went to miami on a non chipped one 3 years ago but still needed an esta.

I was amazed to clear immigration in under 15 minutes this week. Being quick off the plane (and ignoring the passport scanners that never work) helps but given recent events in Paris & Brussels I expected heightened security.
It'll certainly take longer getting back into UK.
