There was a lot of talk about his contract early this year and whether it has a clause that means he must play all games.
Now I have 2 questions
1) if he did would you want dick knight to come out and say he does?
and
2) if he plays under the new manager (like he has done all season) and still gets picked will we just accept that he does have this clause?

I thought that Insider has categorically denied that there is anything like this in Virgo's contract.

He came to the club on the premise that he would play centre back (as he wanted to re-establish himself in his preferred position). This clearly hasn't happened and I personally think it says a lot about him that he just rolls his sleeves up and tries his best for the Albion wherever he plays.

Does he want to play up front? No
Does he want to play right wing? No

But he'll do anything that is asked of him for this club. They are not his best positions and he hasn't played well this season - but his alternative is to throw his toys out the pram and say he won't play for the club unless it is at centre back - then how would we all feel about him?

Bald Gull - thank you for confirming this. I had missed the comment by Insider on this. At least I can stop wibbling on about the phantom clause.

However, that does make you wonder then if Adam McV has compromising pictures of Adams and White somewhere!!

I don't think even Gerrard has a contract clause saying he plays if fit. But the reality is Virgo is probably are highest payed player, and for a club like ours, if you're paying somone the sort of money I expect we are, you should atleast play him. I think Micky made a couple of mistakes in the summer when assembling the squad, Hawkins wasn't neccessary really, considering we already had Lynch, Elphick and El-Abd (plus Hinshelwood to come back into the team aswell). So to sign Hawkins and then Virgo who both play centre back, I was very suprised. It's good to have the utility man like Virgo, who I think is more assured than El-Abd wherever he plays. I think it's a shame to be honest, the returns of Adams and Virgo really have gone sour.

Under a manager that doesn't have a history with Virgo, he may get a new lease of life.

Re the centre backs - there was no guarantee that Hinsh would ever be fit again and El Abd is only a makeshift CB, so I can see why he did it.

New manager will look at the squad and will re-shape it even if that doesn't mean spending money at this stage. Will be interesting to see who remains "in" and who gets marginalised.

El-Abd is best at centre back for me, he's pointless in a midfield unless it's in a 4-5-1. That's my opinion, I think he lacks the positional awareness at right back but is a solid centre back. Which Micky won't have known when he arrived, I appreciate that. But to bring in 2 players who want to play at centre back when it was already a position we had covered, it just seems a waste to me. And now Hawkins is stuck, but he won't mind too much, he's got another year on his contract left after this...

He is not worth the money we pay him. I personally think that he is the weak spot, he was playing right back and was shockingly bad, then at centre back which is suposedly his favoured position and mucked up (the Luton game). I just think he is versatile but not very good for it. I would drop him straight away. I think Lynch could easily be twice the player that Virgo is at centre back. Davies is a better striker than Virgo even though he missed a sitter yesterday. And i just dont think he could slot in anywhere else, we have a really strong midfield and i wouldnt put him in it.
