Yes, Elphick, Lynch at the back would make Virgo 3rd Choice, if Hinshlewood ever got in any danger of being fit for a prolonged period of time, then I think he is the best defender I have seen at the Albion. That would make Virgo 4th choice.

I've only seen Elphick a couple of times, but he looked a better player than Hinsh in my opinion

FRUIT OF THE BLOOM
Virgs time at Celtic and another season in the Championship probably suggest he's also a better player now than when he left.
And i thought that Colchester were pretty pleased with him even though they struggled.

See they've also let Luke Guttridge go, didn't we try to sign him before he joined ColU?

Not yet we don't, but it must be 99% sure, otherwise we wouldn't have released three left-backs.

I thought it was decided by the club that Virgo's best position was at left-back, (well that's what my dad told me anyway)

I never stated that El-Abd was better than Lynch or Tommy, just that centre-back is his best position.

I don't think it is. If you have to play El-Abd anywhere, it would be midfield. He's too short for a centre back and not that good

For me that would bring the buzz back to the albion....someone to go and watch week in week out. A guy who loves the club and give 110% everytime he plays.

I think you guys are forgetting that Virgo did it in the Championship. :bigwave:

Yes he did do well in the Championship, but only because he was playing for us.

I thought he was an excellent player for us, but he's not that good really. It was a brilliant risk by McGhee, and Virgo became a 'hero' for those couple of seasons.

I would love to seem him back, he's a really decent bloke and Brighton meant a lot to him.

Not skilful enough for midfield. You've got to be able to pass a ball more than 5 yards.

Jack of all trades, master of NONE.

He's shit in midfield.

That's my point.
I don't think he's good as centre back and if he had to play I'd rather it was in midfield, where at lease he could win some tackles, as opposed to being dodgy in defence

It would be great to have Virgo back here.

Lynch has still to convince, Richards is a loan player, Forster as a captain is not getting any younger. He can score vital goals and he knows what it takes to get out of this division.

Personally, I'd expect him to sign for a club like Swansea, Forest, Leeds, Southampton but you never know.
