Virgin are the only train company that still give out free booze. All that ends when First take over. I will switch to flying rather than getting the train when travelling to the North West now. Boo :(

East Coast & Midlands both do free booze still.

But loved Virgin, and will certainly fly now, as its only a bit more expensive than first class advance, and is a lot quicker.

I believe the trains will also be transferred over to First West Coast Ltd leaving Virgin Trains with no stock at all. I think Virgin may well win the upcoming tender on the ECML.

I've got a feeling that the TOC's don't mess about by buying any rolling stock , they have a leasing agreement. There are 7 ROSCO's (including Lloyds and HSBC) which own the engines and carriages and leases them to the train operators. The new franchisee signs a new leasing agreement for the rolling stock and the exteriors get a paint respray.

I use virgin trains all the time to go to the outlaws in Chester and the service is generally brilliant. I can generally get a return to Chester for about £30 which for me is great value. I will be very miffed if first take over as they do not look after the customers needs first.

Awaits developments!!!!!!!

Do they? Ace if so. Thought GNER did away with it 5 or 6 years ago. Will investigate . Ta.
