Virgin Media or BT Vision

Used to have BT Vision before we did Sky multi room, cannot really complain about it. Oh, and yes you can pause/rewind on it.

Thinking of Sky or Virgin. Virgin seems better and better value, but Sky has 3d and SkyGo, so unsure which one to go for.

I find VM brilliant value for what we get. If and when they get Sky Atlantic they will blow Sky properly out of the water. The BB speeds that VM offer are just so much better, and the on demand service is awesome. Yes you can rewind, pause and record on Virgin. We pay £60 a month for pretty much everything, a friend of mine gets less BB speed and a worse phone tarrif on Sky and pays nearly £80.

I have a feeling that the only reason Sky is hanging on to Sky Atlantic so much is because it's the one tool they've got left in their box that Virgin don't have. Virgin get that and Sky will get raped IMO. Virgin are cheaper, have infinitely better internet access and their customer service is good - if they get things wrong they bend over backwards trying to fix it. Plus TiVo rocks.

Oh Virgin have started doing 3D too lol!! The other thing Sky have however is Sky Go. When Virgin catch up with that it will be amazing!

Only Sky have the sports in 3D and the dedicated 3D channel. I think you can get some 3D stuff with Virgin on the on demand service (not sure if you have to pay extra?), but not as much as Sky.

All very well of you live in a built up area, no chance in hell Virgin could improve BB speeds once you get out of town, certainly not once you go rural. Sky wins hands down anywhere there isn't a modern telephone exchange system, and for now, that means vast expanses of the UK rural and country communities. BT just about gets us 4-5meg BB on a good day but not consistent enough for HD, Virgin don't even want to know.

I've also noticed on Virgin (& maybe others too) a shed load of new BBC channels which will be showing all the Olympic stuff.

The actual TV package offered by Virgin is very good, lots of stuff on demand, you get espn hd free too with the xl package which is a nice bonus. What I found let it down was the virgin box itself, often slow and unresponsive. Perhaps the tivo box doesnt suffer from this problem so is worth the extra few quid. Only used bt's internet, which is okay, found virgins to be far superior though, both its 10mb service and its 50mb fibre optic.

The BT Vision package with the broadband and a phone line and sky sports 1 & 2 (only does sky sports 1 and 2) is £45...

Virgin is £45 for the first 6 months and then £90 after for 18 months but you get every sky sports channel.

I think i will go for virgin as i want all the sports... A friend of mine says that sky swap there golf coverage from sky sport 1 and 2 to 3 and 4 at the weekend.

If you just want sky sports 1 and 2 BT the better value...

Virgin Broadband is pretty good, mostly reliable, the TV is not so good, fewer choice of channels and if you want Sky Sports HD you can only get 1 and 2 (and no F1 HD either just the normal channel).

Spot on... i didn't realise this until i looked more last night. £104 a month just to get the sky sports 3 and 4 and a few movies which i don't want.

Definitely going for BT £45 phone, broadband and sky sports 1 and 2... I can't justify a further £60 a month for a few lesser sport channels.
