I am looking to treat myself to sky sports however i cannot have a satellite dish where i live so i believe that leaves me with the following two options:

BT Vision or Virgin Media

Does anyone have any of these and would you recommend any of the two?

I shall be making the purchase this week based on the views of NSC.

Thanks

Not a fan of Virgin Media, TV or Broadband. Poor service overall. Not used BT Infinity so I can't compare though

Both will have good and bad stories. Go for the best deal, and hope for the best.

Ive had BT Vision for around 5 years, no technical problems until recently. The helpdesk are generally very good although it did take some persistance to get them to call an engineer out.

That's probably the best advice you'll get on this thread. Seems so hit and miss with some people getting great service, others not.

Never tried BT Vision , but have been a Virgin Media customer since the NTL days. Never had a problem , and their Tivo is an amazing bit of kit. Just trawl through the Sky Movies menu for example. Choose a movie that sounds good , but you know nothing about it . With a couple of clicks it will take you to a You tube link and shows the trailer. Also the wish list is great. If you miss a programe , just click on it retrospectivly , and it records it the next time it is on .

Thanks for the replies...

I didn't realise you could get sky without a dish.

Financially i think BT works out better value.

Can you stop pause and rewind programs on both BT and Virgin. I really don't know anything about these two. I My family and friends all have sky plus.

Our of interest, why can't you have a dish? They don't have to be on the roof, father in law has his on the ground in the garden, concealed by a strategically placed azalea .

Conservation Area I expect. Certainly the case for much of central Brighton. The gardens great if you've got a garden, not many people in central areas do.

Yup conservation area... so a definite no no.

So can you pause and rewind etc of either virgin or bt?

Im ideally after sky sports and think BT only charge £18 a month for this...

His profile says he's SW London. Either way, conservation area doesn't always
mean you can't put up a dish, worth checking with the CO, after all, Devechi (sp?) got permission for solar panels in the conservation area that is Lewes.

Can't you get some sky sports and espn through a normal aerial? They both appear as 'encrypted' channels on digital terrestial TV

yes. but you'll have to pay for a conditional access card for the box

I've got VM, both the 60mb BB and the 1TB Tivo box. Both services very very good. The Tivo box is well worth a look. VM is a bit more expensive, but I've found it worth it.
