What's the difference between right pot stirring and wrong pot stirring? Not being rude, just don't understand what you mean. Is it the direction you stir in or something?
Sorry, I didn't make myself totally clear in the post. Whether the information is legit or bullshit is irrelevant. It does stink of opportunism on the part of 'interested parties' after our win. Or were you joking?

This is not to question, in any way, the validity of shaolinpunk 's post!

BensGrandad . Glad to see your spellcheck is mostly working again x

Oh I see what you mean about interested parties. Was being a bit naive there myself. If that's the case then it's clearly bullshit. Don't agree that whether it's bullshit or legit is irrelevant though.

No, should there be, just as old report that we are signing a young lad from West Ham, Trevor Brooking I think his name is for the DS in the summer. Just rechecked it is actually Elliott Lee.

Well let us know as soon as you post something on there.

Apparently Benfica are planning a move for him in the summer

Benfica have joined the race with BHAFC for FC Groningen's promising defender, Virgil van Dijk, and will launch a bid in the summer #BHAFC

The wiki page for Benfica says "Benfica is the world's most supported football club and the twenty-second richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €111.1 million."

Erm, what? :lolol:

He wants to play in England, doubt he'd waste time going to the Portuguese league, sideways step from the Dutch league .

He would be mad to down Benfica for us!
A move to Benfica gets him nowhere.

If he wants to promote himself to Spanish clubs, then got to Spain.
The same obviously applies to England.

Moving to the top of a small pond, still leaves you in a small pond, away from the shop window.

Have you heard of Angel Di Maria or David Luiz?

With all due respect that is complete balls.

Playing for one of the top teams in a well respected European league with Champions league football (?? or at least Europa League) and the chance to show your skills to a huge audience. If you are good enough you will get your move to one of the top leagues having been noticed playing top level football.

Yeah they both did exactly what I'm advocating, using Benfica.
Virgil is at that stage already, so why move from a 'lesser' league in Europe to play in another 'lesser' league.
He's clearly getting noticed, lessening our chances of signing him, but a move to Benfica verses a move to Stoke (for arguments sake) is a no brainer.
Taking out the obvious question - Why would anyone move to Stoke!?!!

As above, but I do take on board the European football aspect, might be the draw to showcase his skills.
