Surely some Premiership clubs would be willing to loan us a centre back. I know Gus doesn't like loans but we desperately need one, otherwise bye bye play offs.

Albion boss Gus Poyet has told The Argus his bid to sign Dutch prospect Virgil van Dijk "is over".
The Seagulls have had two bids knocked back for the rising Groningen star.

Poyet needs a centre-back to help cover the current absence of Gordon Greer and Lewis Dunk.

He will assess his options before tomorrow night's transfer deadline.

But he said: "At the moment there's nothing. It's going to be very difficult."

Typical Argus - this leaves us in limbo. Did Gus actually SAY it was 'over'. The only full sentance suggests NOTHING new?! I still think a deal is possible tommorow... If not, the Summer...

Bizarre Transfer Speculation - Virgil van Dijk

I bet we still make a third and final offer at about 10pm tomorrow. Make it any earlier than that and they'll keep holding out for more.

Perhaps a MOD should close this thread now. Too many words wasted on a lost cause.

Isn't it time to forget about this one and hope that we find a central defender from somewhere before tomorrow night?

Is there no one in the development squad who could step up? rather than a back four shuffle.
