I was in the South Stand directly behind the goal (it's where all us Top Boys went) and I didn't come down from the high for DAYS! It was also Clough's first visit back to the Goldstone since he left us for Leeds. He came onto the pitch before the game and walked towards the South Stand clapping us. In return some were booing him but others were applauding. I wasn't sure what to; after all, he'd helped to kick-start the revolution that had got us into the top division in the first place, but on the other hand he wasn't that good a manager for us, his heart was never in it and he jumped ship at the first opportunity. So I clapped and booed at the same time!

Went to the away match that season at Forest when we won 1-0, great memories.

Me too. The last 15 min seemed an eternity, checking watch every 30sec to see how much time left. Relief & joy when the final whistle blew. Happy. happy days.

Did loveable old soak, Brian Clough HIT anyone on that day? He must've been in a bad MOOD after that result.

I wish someone would dig out the highlights of this game - it was on Match of the Day. I seem to recall it was Forest's first home defeat in the League for a couple of years.

certainly was, they were about to break Liverpool's record of undefeated home matches, must have really got up BC's nose when we stopped them.

The reason i remember it so well was i had both arms in plaster after a motor bike accident, i really found out who my friends were.

I have the audio of the MoTD commentary on cassette tape, which I've given to Goldstone Rapper to upload. No pics - but it's worth listening to mainly (once again) for the interviews with Clough and Mullery (Clough is heavily critical of Trevor Francis, who they'd signed as the first million pound player, saying something like: "We paid a lot of money for him. I do hope he doesn't play like that every week".)
