I don't know if that's actually true tbh. They were superb in the Championship but as we know with Hughton, that doesn't necessarily make for a great free-flowing PL side.

The fact that they claim to play an expansive style, with the 12th highest possession and number of passes in the division, but still have the second lowest xG in the division, and the second least amount of shots, implies that they don't actually create much tactically, and the fact that they're outscoring their xG implies that they're taking more chances than they're fluffing.

Yes, he had a great season last year which might suggest he can do something superb with better players (though I think the fact their top goalscorer in the Championship has just won the Bundesliga as part of the longest unbeaten side in German history might have been quite a big factor outside of his control), but I think the evidence of Anderlecht and this season might also suggest that he is a very average possession based manager.

He tried to run before his players knew how to walk in the EPL. Squad bears no relation to the one who were relegated with Dyche 22 months ago, and had been changed a fair bit since they were promoted back.

All that said....great club captain but not convinced he's shown he has enough to manage in the EPL. He's done less as a manager than Stevie Gerrard and Fat Frank Lampard and I wouldn't touch either of those with a bargepole.

While not enamoured with the rumour and think his Burnley team are very naive in their play this year, He has demonstrably done better than at least Fat Frank as he won the Championship at a canter.

His team got 101 points in the Championship last season! I think the mistake he's made has been trying to play the same way in the Premier Leasue with a similarly talented group of players. Give him a squad of Premier League quality players, such as we have, and it might be a different story.

Let's face it, on paper not a single one of Burnley's starting 11 would've got into our starting 11 last week, would they? Yet, we were lucky to come away with a point.

Yes, to go back to my previous point, he had an outrageously strong side in the Championship. His top scorer in the English second tier is now a key player for Bayer Leverkusen. My argument is that Burnley's successful season under him was predicated on a truly wonderful defensive record - something that shouldn't be lessened at all. The fact they outscored their xG by 21 goals implies that whilst the players were prolific in the moment, the style going forward wasn't as much.

As a comparison, we outscored our xG by 1 goal last season at exactly the same goals per game as Burnley had in the Championship.

He also inherited an incredibly strong side at Anderlecht (Joshua Zirkzee and Christian Kouamé up front is a top European strike partnership) and was only able to get them to finish 3rd and 4th, in a league they should be dominating, with a 45% win rate.

I'm not for a second saying that Burnley weren't superb in destroying the Championship last season, I just think that if you look at the stats, there is a lot that points to Kompany not being able to replicate those numbers season over season. And I don't think we have the players or budget to give Kompany the foundation he would need to overperform offensively in the Premier League.

If RDZ does go to one of these clubs this summer then you would think that would mean we have had a reasonable finish to the season = great news because I only care about BHA, not so much about RDZ.
However it is not totally inconceivable that we do not win another match this season. I can't see the millions of social media warriers of LFC or Bayern being ecstatic in that scenario.
I have no idea who would want to follow Klopp, thankless job, you would need to win the EPL or UCL in your first season.

We’ll want someone who plays possession football as a successor to RDZ when he leaves, and Kompany certainly gets his team to play possession football.
I was at Turf Moor and I was impressed with Burnley’s performance compared with the sum parts of their players. Tactically they nullified us, and caused us problems down our left side which has been a weakness at times this season.
He’s now had experience of the Premier League as a manager. A tough one at that.
However, what I think is particularly important when RDZ goes is that we have someone in who can get the player’s respect.
Kompany has won everything in the English game playing under probably the best manager of modern times. So I’m sure he’ll get that respect. ( whereas Russell Martin, probably not!)
I think it would be a good appointment if Roberto goes which I think he will.
