The target should be 7th first and foremost and as soon as possible, so anything but a Villa win please. ECL would be an incredible achievement and I want to go into that Villa game knowing that is guaranteed. The thought of them pipping us in that final game is unbearable. Get 7th in the bag and if we find ourselves in a position to finish 6th then even better.

Depends if you want us to potentially finish 6th or 7th. If it's 6th then A Villa win or draw. If it's 7th then a Spurs win.

I really, really want us to play in Europe next year so I'm going for a Spurs win or at worst a draw.

Anything but a Villa win, hoping Villa lose to Spurs and Liverpool which should mean a home win v southampton or an unlikely away win should be enough for 7th.

However i`m expecting Villa to beat Spurs at Villa Park with a full house and Spurs being very Spursy.

THIS. 7th would be incredible.
It wouldn't though. Well the achievement would, but the difference between the Europa league and the Conference league from a fan's point of view is absolutely massive.

I really REALLY want 6th. Not only might we get to go to some big foreign clubs but we'd also actually have a chance of winning it. The conference looks like it's barely worth entering.

I'm #team@Shins

What's the difference between the two from a fans' point of view?

I couldn't care less whether we end up in one of those tournaments or the other so long as I get to see the Albion in Europe (obviously a higher place in the league is preferable).

More fun playing bigger teams. Probably more tickets too.

Mainly though it's about more prestige. More media coverage.

Also... a stretch, I know, but another route into the Champions League.

Europa league is the target. RDZ has made that clear.

Any result that helps us achieve that please.

Should be ecstatic, but would feel a little disappointed with UCL after the season we’ve had. Without doubt one of the best 6 sides in the Premier League this season and I hope we get our just rewards.

Draw please.
Still puts us in 7th, above Aston Villa as we have better GD.
Also means that Tottenham are still reachable, with 3 more points than us, yet we have better GD.
Then hoping that both Tottenham and Aston Villa lose their next two, whilst we get the required points for Europa.

I still firmly believe we are one of the best 6 sides in the league. We have a great chance to prove it over the next 5 games.

De Zerbi isn’t one to “settle” for anything. Unlike Potter, he doesn’t have the air of thinking we’re lucky to even be here.

So to summarise…
spurs win good result
draw good result
villa win good result

Can I tick all 3 boxes ?

Europa we are guarneetd six games (3 away at big clubs)

Conference we are only guarntetd one (play offs) which we could lose to some no mark side.

Europa, if we finish third in our group, we would then drop into the Conference.

I'm still so scarred by Monday night that I'm beginning to think I might prefer us to play in the Conference League:oops:

I think if we could go into the Man city game with a guaranteed 7th place finish knowing one win would guarantee 6th that would be ideal but requires some BIG performances and results going our way.

A villa Spurs draw followed by a loss for Spurs at Brentford and and Villa at Liverpool would be incredible!

Lol I'm the only one to have gone for Villa so far out of 40 votes. You just have to assume that Liverpool will beat Villa. Even if Villa were to beat Spurs and us that still only leaves us needing 5 points to finish above them. I know we have difficult fixtures but we have to back ourselves to get 5 points for 7th. Especially when one of those games is against Villa.

So, say Spurs beat Villa and then they play at home to Brentford and away to Leeds. On paper they win those games (even though I fancy Brentford to get something). Potentially Spurs could be on 66 points, or 64 with a draw. That extra point for a draw means we need to win 3 of our remaining games. I think it's far more likely we win a couple and pick up a couple draws given we have to play Arsenal, Newcastle and City.

What's more likely, Villa to lose/draw against Liverpool and us, or Spurs to lose/draw against Brentford and Leeds? Then throw in that Spurs already have 3 more points. It's literally a no brainer.

Unless of course everyone on here is playing for 7th, and not 6th. I'm playing for 6th.
I think you may be right...but my head's spinning with all the permutations 😬😬

There's a big difference between the pulling power of the Europa and Conference semi-finalists.

Europa
Juventus, Sevilla, Roma, Bayer 04 Leverkusen

Conference
Fiorentina, FC Basel, West Ham, AZ Alkmaar

That said, I'd be quite happy with us emulating Roma.

Win the Conference League, then make the Semi-Finals of the Europa League.

Can you imagine Albion making a European final, even if it's the lowest of the 3?

Just as a heads-up, the locations of the 2023-24 Finals are as follows:
  • Champions League - Wembley Stadium, London
  • Europa League - Aviva Stadium, Dublin
  • Conference League - To be announced this month

(But ok...we've got to get there first. Draw, but if not, Spurs win.)

I'm still trying to imagine us being in Europe in any way at all 🤞🤞😂

My thoughts exactly- the thought of going into the game at Villa with it a shoot-out for 7th would be bloody horrible

Really? Are we incapable of picking up points against Arsenal, Newcastle, City? Are 3 defeats nailed on for these games? Are we certs to get nothing at Villa?
Incapable? No, of course not - unlikely though, that's a different matter; certainly unlikely to get enough points from them to deprive Tottenham of their fully undeserved 6th. place.

You could argue that in terms of our long term progression it would be better to have Europa Conference next season, giving us a better chance of continuing to do well in the Prem. I worry that with no MacAllister and tough Europa League fixtures we might peak after one season and potentially slip into the bottom half.

There's more leeway with Conference as West Ham have shown. I'm also conerned with injuries piling up and Mitoma looking done we might only have a couple of decent appearances left in us. For that reason I'm in the Spurs win camp.
