Just for future reference I parked in a school carpark about 5 min walk from he ground. They charged £6.

Address was Sycamore Rd, Birmingham B6 5UH

However traffic leaving was so bad it took about 45 minutes to get on the main road heading south. Anyone that criticises Amex travel arrangements should have seen this, it was carnage.

Train wasn't much better. Had a 45-minute wait at Witton before being told by staff that due to a problem it'll be another hour from where we currently were in the queue. Brisk 20-minute walk to Aston station and only just made our 18.30 back to Euston. Basically took 90 minutes getting to New Street after leaving the ground.

I have used Star city in the past, 20 minutes walk to the ground.Far enough so most traffic will have cleared after by the time you get back to the car.

Fairly crappy selection of places to eat in Star city but looked safe enough to leave a car there and its easy to get to off the motorway.

I parked on a residential side road just off Thimble Mill Lane - easy parking, 25 min walk - quick access to M6 J5

I parked in an industrial unit car parks for a fiver. Pretty much straight out and moving afterwards, back in Burgess Hill by 8.30.

Heard some of the buses got stuck in pretty bad traffic.

There is loads of unrestricted residential parking within 15-20 mins walk. No need to pay if you don't mind a stroll.

It was shocking and people actually moan about leaving the Amex and getting back to Brighton.

Queues all the way up the road for Witton station, football specials finished before most people had got out of the ground and then a train to New Street every half an hour. No warnings or signs to state this and only a couple of railway staff to deal with such a large amount of people.

That's what I did. Train was still rammed coming from Walsall match (?) but I got a seat and was back in New Street
by 5.30'ish. Time for a cup of tea, cookie and meander onto the train.

Felt sorry for the poor buggers at Aston and Witton. No hope.

Heard some of the buses got stuck in pretty bad traffic.

They did, I was on a coach and basically an hour going nowhere. Lots of stop stop stop stop 10 yards stop stop stop......

In years gone by coaches were always given a police escort away from grounds and onto the motorway, which was great if you were in car, as you just dropped in behind and raced away.

I was indoors at 11pm.

Worse than Falmer from Witton, we went for a wander and a coffee, got to the station at 6.15 and still large queue waiting to get on to the platform, apparently delays were due to a delayed freight train and only 3 car trains available, that sounds familiar.

Didn't help there seemed to be some sort of accident around A38(M) & M6 motorway junction that snarled the traffic up even more.

I'm sure this is no reassurance to you but we took one look at that queue at Witton and decided to knock it on the head. After briefly walking the wrong way, we walked quicker than the traffic to the main drag where there were a fair few busses running. Probably got to New street for just before 6.

I don't think there is any easy way out by public transport. Give me West Brom or Birmingham away (for travel at least) any day of the week

I was one of those poor buggers at Witton but fortunately was one of a small handful of people who got through the cordon on to the train - probably the same train you were on. Got the 5.50 back to London but lesson learnt.

Must have got to Witton just before 5.00pm and was towards the front of the queue. The next train was due at 5.15pm, but was a couple of minutes late. In the event no one was let on, as there were a few Walsall and Cheltenham fans already on the train. The stewards were concerned about rivalry! Fortunately the next train was only a couple of minutes behind, so we were back at New Street just after 5.35pm.

It did mean dashing out of the ground on the final whistle and not stopping to applaud the players for their superb performance. However, given the experiences of others, we probably did the right thing.

I'm sure we paid someone a fiver to park that we didn't need to... lol... didn't realise how close to the ground we were, couple of mins walk...at least the car was still there when we got back. Slow getting onto the motorway, got in at 9.30pm....

We passed a bloke charging people to park on a normal street, half on the pavement, just by manipulating a couple of road cones. Must have been the oldest 'mind-yer-car-mister' that I have ever seen
