Villa a Friday night sell out ?

I bloody love Friday night games. In my local by 16:45 off to the game at 18:36. Beer at the ground and sorted. Then have the whole weekend free. What's not to like?��

My first point was that the ground was not full and that was not just where SThs did not turn up so we have probably reaching our max for games and the club probably realise that. Secondly they don't need to worry about the STHs as that is revenue already in the bank.

Okay, let's take it a stage further. The attendance given on Saturday was 29,469, that's 1,281 less than the capacity of 30,750. Factor in seats not used due to segregation areas, seats for hospitality guests - WAGS, club employees etc., then there's not going to be much change left over. Hence my reason for stating that the club were correct in announcing that it was a sell out.

With regard to your other comment about have we reached the maximum level on attendance - who knows? To my knowledge we have had 30,000+ crowds on three occasions. Wolves (2013) and Derby (2016) in the league, and Arsenal (2015) in the FA Cup.

It could be that the club have enlarged the segregation area, on the advice of the police maybe, which would mean less seats available. We will probably find that one out when we play Villa in a couple of weeks time.

Apart from wine I can't think of much.

Food - French food is past its sell-by date - we're much better now than they are - all the French chefs now come to London to learn their trade.

Southend used to move all there weekend fixtures to Friday evening. I'm sure they weren't the only club to do this.

But I didn't grow up in France and was taken to football as a young lad on a Saturday afternoon, I've been to a couple of matches in France though and they were on Saturday evenings.

I can fully understand why fans that work on a Saturday are pleased when a match is moved to a Friday. Also Friday games must be great for fans that live in Brighton and can finish work at a decent time.

I'm just a bit old school and I do 5 days hard graft and enjoy a few pints and a Saturday football match.

Don't know why Southend moved matches to Friday's, maybe because half of Essex supports West Ham

But my point is SKY moved Saturday afternoon matches for their benefit, not for season ticket holders like myself.

I think our capacity is really 30,292 or so, less 29,469 = 823, of which about half could be put down to seats Norwich did not sell.
